The WiFi on my recent ORD-IAH and HNL-GUM flights was more than sufficient for my purposes.

Flew UA871 SFO-TPE on 11/22. 777 had wifi. It was $16.99 for the whole flight. Worked like a champ.

Maybe this will help someone... Everytime I would try wifi, it would be crazy slow, so I finally spent some time troubshooting and figured out my problem. I believe the United wifi uses the 2.4GHz band, but I have both the 2.4 and 5.2 GHz on the laptop. Once I completely disabled the 5.2 band, I got a rock solid connection and good speed.
