N475UA: UA Retro Livery A320
Going from ORD back to LAX on August 17th - departed out of Gate B14. Just adjacent in B16 was the United A320 Retro Jet that was making a run between ORD and LGA. First shot is from the gate area:
Once on our flight (a pmUA 757-200 tulip - see the engine cowling color), took a few more shots:
Also note the pmUA 747 docked into B18.
Had wanted to post to the pm-MP thread that noted the 85th Anniversary of United celebrated with this retro A320 but the thread's closed. Also, a direct search of the three fora (consolidated, pm-MP and pm-OP) primarily pull threads about pmCO's retro bird.
Enjoy!

It as very classic and distinctive look. I saw it yesterday morning landing at ORD. It was glowing from the rising sunlight, contrasted against the thunderstorm behind it, surrounded by a double rainbow. Wish I was able to take a picture because it was an amazing sight.

I don't know the exact dates, but United used this livery from about 1970 to 1977, when it was replaced by the Saul Bass livery, with the orange color added to the red and blue. Here is a United 747 with the "Stars and Bars" livery leaving HNL from "The Brady Bunch."

This was my fave UA livery. Miss those Royal Hawaiian flights on 747 Friend Ships.
