I believe the Saul Bass logo came online in '74-75.

I wish UA would introduce RETRO SERVICE on these planes. I'd gladly pay double for the service we got back in those days.

Other retro liveries?

I just recall seeing a LH a/c with retro livery in FRA last May. Here's a photo.

What other retro liveries are there out there? Is it part of some joint (e.g. *A) marketing effort, or just a coincidence?

Just love the livery. I am very lucky to be on this flight from Cleveland to san francisco on october 15. Here is a link that tracks the aircraft and shows the routes:

Maybe you will get to be on it!

Isn't that cute? It's N475UA, the A320 in Friend Ship livery. See some action shots at http://www.airliners.net/search/phot...gsearch=N475UA .

I don't know if its still flying around, but AC had a Trans Canada Air livery flying around for quite a while. Have seen it a couple of times when coming out of YYZ, the last time I think I saw it was about 2 or 3 years ago. Believe theirs is a 320 as well. Maybe it was for their 65th anniversary.

Saw both (UA & CO) retro jets on the ground at IAH on Friday. Wish the carrier had a retro jet from each past livery.. Would certainly mix up the beige and white.

This was my fave UA livery. Miss those Royal Hawaiian flights on 747 Friend Ships.
I remember when Hawaii was "our little corner of the world"!
Remember the FAs in muumuus?
Remember the coach meals served in faux koa bowls - with an orchid?

This livery reminds me of the United planes, DC-8's as I recall, shown in the HNL scenes on the original Hawaii 5-0 series. I've been watching them lately on Netflix, circa 1968 and forward. Would this be the livery of that period?

Had a ride on the retro A320 a couple days ago out of Philly....

I overheard several different groups of customers talking about the livery. Very cool.

Smile 1970's era aircraft pulled out of the Nevada desert

Spotted a UA plane from the 1970's at SFO this morning:

Just flew this bird ORD-IAD on UA382. It was exciting to see it pull up! I wonder if UA will consider other retro liveries in future. I recall this design was chosen from five others.

I got to ride on this plane from MEX-IAH back in late-April. I was super excited to hop on it.

For those who are wondering, yes, the interior config has received the "slim" treatment.
