Really? Only 1 GPU required for this?
I booked a trip over the Christmas Holidays to visit IAD and LHR, I have a 27 hour layover in IAD to do a quick drive-by to visit family. When booking the ticket, I figured that I'd use the GPU for the IAD-LHR portion and take my chances on the CPU for the LAX-IAD portion. But the agent (a fantastic woman [name removed] who was very pleasant and patient with me), said the computer came back and only required 1 GPU for the entire LAX-IAD-LHR portion.
Any danger in them asking me for another GPU when I check in for the IAD-LHR portion of the flight? Any thoughts would be appreciated! |
No danger. Make sure your reservation shows "R" class on both flights and make sure the e-ticket that goes with the itinerary shows "R" class. As long as it does you're good to go.
If the reservation hasn't been re-ticketed and you go to check-in you'll be blocked from doing so. That's when things could get interesting and not in a good day. I'd call UA and just ask if the ticket was re-issued after you applied the GPU. That's all you need to ask. -RM |
Bank error in your favor. Collect $200.
GPU validation is done at the request side now, so once you have it, I think you're okay. They don't do upgrade support at checkin any longer like PMUA did. The assumption is if it got in there, it was supported.

Any chance you're on an M or higher fare and benefitting from a fare-UP on the domestic segment? I think you would show in PN on the LAX-IAD segment if that were the case.
