When a GPU clears for a flight, does that passenger appear as 'upgraded'?

Please forgive me if this is answered, but I did a search of the FAQ and did not find an answer to this specific question.

When a GPU clears for a flight, does that passenger appear as 'upgraded' on the standby upgrade list?

Thanks

In my experience, yes. But a quick search makes me wonder if that's still the case. If I do a search for international flights 2 days out I don't see anyone on the "upgraded" list - I tried 5-6 flights.

Thats whats making me wonder. I'm watching a flight in OCT on which I'm GPU Waitlisted. I see folks go on the standby list on the day-of but nothing farther out.

On my last trip (cleared with GPUs on 4 segments) I showed up as upgraded on domestic flights but not on international flights.

since 3/3 i have cleared several GPUs at different times. I did show in all but one case on the upgrade list within the T-24. That one case had a change in the reservation that required the famous re-sync by phone agent.

IME not until the person checks in.

The UA.com upgrade list has this little blurb on it:

* This list only includes upgrade-eligible customers that have checked in for this flight.
However, the * is only next to the standby list column, not the upgraded list column.

My experiance has been that when I use a GPU and clear > T-24 I'm not listed as an upgrader where when I clear at the gate I am. However, sometimes as a GS my GPUs clear into class other than R (when > T-24).

This.

The mobile upgrade lists are not a good indicator of how many people were upgraded into BF or GF because they just don't show the data anymore. I think UA does this for competitive reasons rather than a technical glitch.

Yup. ^ This has been my experience as well.

I have a friend who worked/works for PMCO..... I asked her if the manifest lists upgraders as upgraders and paid as paid.... she said no.

I always wondered this as well to see if I got better service as paid vs. upgraded... havent noticed a difference.

My last experience of GPU clearing was inconsistent....gate upgrade at GIG to GRU then IAD did not show on upgrade list, domestic leg following it did (it had cleared at booking). Return cleared one week out and showed on mobile upgrade list....

In my experience once you are completely checked in (meaning you have had your visa verified at the airport if you are on a flight to Brazil or China, for example) then you wil appear on the upgraded list. Right after 3/3 I had a couple flights where I did not appear on the list, and I would say this was consistent with the comment about it depending on final booking class, but the last few times I was upgraded usng a GPU I have appeared on the list regardless of whether the upgrade was processed days in advance or at the gate and regardless of the fnal class showing on my boarding pass.

Just bumping this thread. Currently, do GPUs on int'l flights show on the upgrade/cleared list? I've been looking at some Int'l flight leaving today and hardly see waitlists or anyone cleared for that matter.

I've had many examples of not being on the upgrade list, and there not really even being an upgrade list on PS flights. Also, on international segments there upgrades sometimes don't show-up, it's one of the many disturbing inconsistencies of SHARES.

I've noticed that too. I think loads have been generally light in premium cabins lately, with much of the clearing done early, so the waitlists are not showing much activity.

I think the only pax who show as cleared off the waitlist are the ones who clear following check-in. My pre-check in GPU upgrades have never shown on that screen.
