Ugliest plane in the system?
This beauty awaited us on the ramp last week, and actually flew us safely from point A to point B:
http://i48.tinypic.com/2lopw0.jpg Yes, those appear to be three strips of tape near the nose cone, almost like you'd use to butterfly a wound. It isn't pictured, but all that sanding of paint above and below the cockpit continued on the other side of the fuselage and back behind the door as well. My guess is they did some sort of an inspection on the joints, and then didn't bother re-painting it as it has the full Has anyone else seen worse post-Merger? (FYI I thought there was a master thread on this, but couldn't find it. Thanks for merging assuming it shouldn't be a stand alone topic) |
Great find ^ !
A clear step up from the "wrong nosecones" UA notoriously used when the livery was changed last. |
Embarassing and probably scary to the average, unsuspecting kettle.

That says a lot about the difference between UA and CO's maintenance programs.
I once saw a 757 at DEN and one engine had three different colors... 1/3 of the new livery [the bluish part], 1/3 of the old grey livery, and 1/3 was just white. |
It's the pre-distressed livery

That doesn't look like an aircraft flown by United Airlines. Perhaps an RJ flown by an outsourced carrier flying under the United Express brand?

After flying in a Cessna 152 last year that was maybe 10-15 years older than I was, I learned to stop caring about paint jobs. |
It's obvious. That was just a small homage to the resident pilots. :)

I was just thinking about this topic yesterday when I flew on a Skywest CRJ-200 in the livery before this--the grey one.
|
Wow...
|
Saw a tuliped 744 at FRA a month ago and it was atrocious. It looked like it had a bunch of stains from dripping liquids and all sorts of paint problems.
