More success to report. Flew out of IAH in F and back without difficulty. Thanks so much to the OP.

I was just doing some searches for my next vacation and noticed on UA.com that SQ flights are back. They are showing award availability just like before. All the "fancy" SQ J/F flights (a380, 77w, a345, etc.) are showing only Y, but the 772 and A333 are showing J availability for 3-5 seats on many days.

SQ awards available again on ual.com
Even some premium cabin availability, nothing like the free for all back in early July but at least availability on commonly available regional routes are back and some longer routes in C (was checking for HND-SIN in C and saw availability on 772 early morning departure most days early next year)

Anybody tried to change dates of a F booked flight? Would UA consider asking SQ about to release a seat on a different date?

You booked during a windfall where SQ didn't have their infamous award blocking in place, and you want to ask them to release a different date?
You either fly that day in F or another day in Y (or maybe C).

Has anyone attempted/had luck in changing UA flights within SQ F in an itinerary? I originally booked GRR-IAH-SIN, but want to change GRR-IAH and shorten a 9 hour layover to 5. advisable?

I asked the same question in the AC thread and got two quick responses both indicating no problem retaining the SQ flights while making changes to UA/LH flights on the same itineraries. Caveat: There do seem to be some issues if you are booked on SQ1 or SQ2 which changed from 77W to 380 after the "sale".
