Den - Ord ticket price - what is the story?

Hi All,

What is with the ticket price logic here? Any insight will be appreciated.

August 9th UA612 return August 10th UA1412 this prices at $718 roundtrip on united.
Exact same flights pricing at $218 roundtrip on US Air as codeshare.

Note that both are operated by United.

Why would United let US Air sell its own seats for so low. Plane is empty so United should sell for $218 or close to that.

Any thought?

The $218 looks like a good fare. Get it while you can.

The airlines "share" the capacity of the flight, and it's up to them how to price it. Who knows why USAir is choosing to give it away?

I take this flight often and it always seems expensive for what it is - never thought to look at US Air...

Sometimes happens in reverse, too - earlier this year I flew BDL-CLT nonstop on US metal; it cost me $156 to book through United and would have been $650 to book directly with USAirways.

Book it Dano

I fly this route every other week. Varies from $250-$550. (even 3 weeks out)
Lot's of connecting traffic DEN-ORD, especially intl. Depends on capacity control. I'd book it on US and change to UA MP number at gate.

The only thing that really peeves me about things like this is that when purchasing on US website, I don't get the bonus for the MP credit card from .bomb.....

Same thing happened to me another r/t out of ORD. The only direct flight from ORD was on UA but purchased the flight on UA metal via US for $219 while it was $479 on UA.

I didn't get the benefits of using my Chase MP Club card but I've heard that except for the 2x miles bonus, the other benefits should transfer regardless. I'll be Premier Silver by then but would still like to be able to get E+ at T-24 given it's likely an elite-light route.

Here's something straight out of the sCOsUA whatever business plan...:
Need to fly my daughter DEN-ORD, one way UA fare a few weeks from now is $400. So I bought her a RT ticket for $230 on UA, same date. Nice. Thanks sCO! Nice doing business with you.

Another data point- last week needed to travel DEN-ORD, my boss was RT DEN-ORD ($700 yikes). I was DEN-ORD-PHX-DEN. My fare was $400. Go figure. I hope they know what they are doing. Seems like a mess.

COdbaUA is very anti-one way pricing. Not uncommon to only get offered Y fares when trying to do so.
