United doesn't recognize LCJ airport code

SAS is about to start flying CPH-LCJ (Lodz, Poland) route and I wanted to check award availability for November. The only problem is united.com doesn't recognize LCJ as valid airport code. It makes huge difference to me to fly US-CPH-LCJ instead of flying into WAW airport. Do you think agent on the phone might be able to book a flight into the airport that is not available online?

Yes - should be no problem at all if there's availability.

Ya UA's website sucks at partner destinations that aren't directly code shared ... but then again usually those are usually rather secondary or exotic

LJG is also not recognized

LJG = Lijiang, Yunnan Province, China is also not recognized. :(:(

This is a really exotic location, very popular.

A call to UA would cost $25 phone booking fee for non-premiers?

Can it be waived...?

CO.com has had problems over the years not just with new airport codes, but less common airport codes.

Even places as large as GMP (Seoul/Gimpo) have thrown it for a loop at times.

Just called UA. Tried two agents, no dice over the phone either. :(

SAS's website lists these flights as being Operated by "Cimber Sterling", but Cimber Sterling filed for bankruptcy and stopped flying in early May (several weeks before SAS even announced this route).

Seems like there might be something wrong with how the flights are loaded into the SAS system, which might be impacting UA's ability to see them.

Everything is fine - these Cimber aircraft (IIRC either 4 or 6) flying on behalf of SAS are still operating as normal. If you need further details, there is a thread on the SAS forum.

If it's not bookable at the res agent level, then it's a SHARES issue. We've seen that too with the old CO. When new cities or new Express-like partners become available or change their flight number ranges, for some reason CO can't keep up with updating their tables.

There is nobody you can talk to and the customer level who can fix this. The only known method of resolution is to PM UA Insider to get to the bottom of it.

Thank you for replies and suggestions!

We had this issue for months with YTZ not being recognized by Continental.com. Couldnt book an AC flight no matter what. Now its there. It just took a long time.

Wow. Not only is it there now, but it's called "Toronto, ON Canada" and appears before YYZ which is also called "Toronto, ON Canada".

Anyone trying to book a flight out of Toronto who isn't familiar with the difference between the two codes/airports is probably not going to have a lot of success - searching for basically anything out of "Toronto, ON Canada (YTZ)" returns no flights available.

TSA (Taipei Song Shan) is another one. NH operates TSA-HND twice a day. Initially, United.com does not recognize it.

Now you can put it in but it tells you no one flies there. So, it is not just "adding the item to the dropdown" - something else has to happen internally for it to actually work.

I've had a number of itineraries where the system - unprompted - suggested a TPE/TSA connection for an award. It clearly knows at least some of the flights through there.

The same applies for LGB (Long Beach, CA) which is a domestic destination! While UA doesn't fly there, US does, and it was annoying to not be able to search for partner awards.
