Im on board UA1411 from SFO to MSP. We were supposed to depart one hour ago. Yet we are still sitting at the gate- we've had ONE communication from the pilot on the reason for the delay: "Weight and balance info from the company".

45 mins later, no communication and pax are getting antsy. How could w&b paperwork take an hour?

1. Pilot/Union issues.
2. SFO is notorious for weight/balance issue delays.

I have flown out of SFO for a half decade and have never had this long of a delay. We're over an hour in and the captain said he has "not heard from the company."

Surprise! Capt announces "computer problem"

In a "half decade" you've never had an hour delay at SFO? That is incredibly lucky.

Related to weight and balance. Thanks for the snark. Capt confirms its computer problem, so the SHARES defense team can find another thread to make false assumptions

What SHARES defense team?

Have you not read the threads about 2+ hour delays in SFO due to exactly the computer calculations for weight and balance?

We've been having problems lately getting what we at L-CAL call our Accuload from load planning/dispatch. It's our final "numbers" and includes aircraft weight, takeoff speeds and other assorted performance calculations. At L-CAL, that information is automatically sent to the aircraft via data link and the contents are uploaded with a single key stroke. The paper form then prints automatically on board. We can't go without the majority of what is contained in that report. There is an alternate method but it's time consuming.

They've been relocating services to ORD from IAH and it appears that they're having some issues. There's a thread on our forum about "Late Acculoads."

I imagine that your experiencing a similar problem. If you're at the gate, your crew isn't being paid so I suspect they're calling anyone and everyone to get the ball rolling. God luck.

Thank you for the kind words and explanation. Its unfortunate that the company has this recurring problem. The amount of time we have spent waiting, is imho, completely uncalled for considering we are in the 21st century

Wait and see what pilot actually says. He probably knows better than anyone else.

What type aircraft? I imagine they're having issues getting what they need from load planning/dispatch. Its been dodgy for a week or so. Until this merger, we had no problems at CAL getting our numbers. The problem is new for s as well.

Our "IT company with wings" is struggling badly where it has never struggled previously. I think Jeff would probably like to take that absurd little phrase back.

It still is not right for him not to give an announcement at least every 20 min or so. Even if he has no new information. Pilots forget that they have hundreds of people crammed into the back and with no updates, people get angry or confused

Agreed. We're now in the 1.5 hr timeframe. Crew is being very apologetic despite it obviously not being their fault.

SHARES DefenseTeam Response team here:

The "weight and balance" issue has been a problem that has been documented since 3/3 and it actually is a "Unimatic" probelm which is a PMUA system....go figure COdbaUA did acutally go with something that PMUA used and it didn't integrate properly....Must be that regional/LCC based computer system PMUA was using
