UA Award on TG with Infant
I've been searching for one way awards from the US to RGN, and I'll be traveling with an infant. I've noted a huge range in prices for the infant based on the various routings, ranging from zero charge (certain routings on Qatar) up to over $500. I'm more of an Alaska Air mile person, so I'm not all that familiar with star alliance awards.
Here's my main question. I've noticed that when I route on Thai and/or ANA, I consistently get an error message, so that I can't book a routing involving Thai or ANA at all on-line. Does anybody know why this happens and how to work around it? I'd call to book, but I don't want to incur the $25 phone fee per ticket, and I also am not pumped about sitting on hold. (I'm looking at ANC-SEA-ICN-HKG-BKK-RGN)
Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered. I searched and didn't find anything on this topic. Thank you for your suggestions!

Did you get one of those RGN F fares for virtually free? That sounds like an amazing deal.
Lap children with award seats are generally a raw deal. You are charged 10% of the adult fare -- and for award seats they use full fare. Perhaps for Y not so bad, but if you are doing C that can get very, very expensive. If you are committed, you can book your award ticket via United and then call TG to add the infant.

Thanks for the suggestion and explanation. I think I'll book the adult tickets, then give United a call. Might check a few other routings, first.
I did get the RGN deal, which is very nice, and I'm hoping it will be an experience to remember for the whole family. Managed to book stopovers in Dubai and Paris. I actually got us two trips, but we are playing it by ear.
We're heading over in Y, because we need 4 seats plus an infant for our crew. China Air is an option on the way over, but it looks like they have no seatback IFE, which is crucial given my particular situation. On the other hand, it's bookable online, and the infant fare is one of the lowest I've seen.
