764 iah-bal-iah?
I’m on UA 557 right now IAH-EWR on a 764 and I noticed that the aircraft did an IAH-BAL-IAH turn over the weekend. Seatmap shows only a few seats occupied for each flight and no upgrades. Charter for the Houston Texans perhaps? But why the few seats showing as occupied?

Yes, this was a Texans charter. 764s are used for a bunch of United's NFL work. Charter flights won't show actual seat assignments in the app.

UA 2557 IAD-IAh
Happen to be in the C17 UC at IAD and noticed this flight. It’s a 772 and appears to have been running an odd routing the last few days of iAD-IAH-LIM-IAD. The LIM-IAD and IAD-IAH segments show empty seat maps indicative of a charter yet the IAH-LIM segments show pretty full seat maps (even though a search for flights by city between IAH-LIM shows no flights). Any ideas?

I'm surprised that the FAA and unions aren't allowing, as an emergency measure, airlines to fly one way with the return crew deadheading/resting in lie-flat seats, doing an immediate turn, and then the outbound crew deadheading/resting on the return.
I know that's against FAA rest rules and most union contracts, but given the circumstances you think everyone would be happier just to get home and not lay over in a foreign country / not even have to leave the plane, possibly.
