Can any FTers confirm that all the 737-800s WITHOUT direct TV have extra legroom in the first row? Thanks!

When is UA going to finish 739 IFE
Flew 739 today phx-iad no IFE. Flying cle-phx tomorrow no IFE either. Kioto seats or whatever there called. Come on...it's been over a year now...what a joke. I might as well fly US back to phx.

It will be a while, the 738/739s will enter service without DTV, and get converted at a later date.

Several colleagues and I have been lamenting the confluence of crappy airbuses and temp seating no-IFE 739's on iah routes. We fly at least 2 domestic rt's a week each and none have had directv for well over a month. Some of it is luck of the draw I know, but it sure has made for a pretty ho-hum flying experience in general. Like we are stuck in the 90's.

US Air has better seat and a more spacious airbus product. No E+ though or entertainment.

That is awful!! I thought the old CO planes were going to be superior or that is what we were told. What a joke, the seats are awful and the most uncomfortable in the industry not even all their planes have entertainment in this 21st century world.

Half of the 738/739 fleet are newer then the youngest A320 which is a 2002 build. So how can you say the 738/739 are old, when we on the sCO side continue to take delivery of new 738/739 aircraft, and the last sUA A320 was delivered in 2002?

Quieter, more spacious cabin, better seats. I'll take the A320 everytime.

Did a red-eye TCON in F on a no-IFE 739 last night. Haven't taken that long a flight in domestic F in a long time. Pretty uncomfortable. I'm surprised there is not more demand for ps type seating on TCONs other than LAX/SFO<>JFK. I admire anyone who does this on a regular basis.

I can answer my own question now. I was ready to watch the first debate on the evening flight to LGA, however, day before the departure it showed the 737-800 had no Direct TV. After getting on board, I realized this 738 with 5 rows in the First Class had no extra space for Row 1 either, which was different from my previous experience on a 4-row FC 738. Also I thought the 738s without direct TV were supposed to be newer, but the aircraft I was on looked pretty old.
