Upon completion of the flight, if you're male, the prettiest FA accompanies you as a personal escort to the best strip bar in town and completes the night in your hotel room performing lap dances and playing flute. And if you're female, the youngest pilot takes you to the suite at ritz or waldorf astoria for you to enjoy a private performance of Thunder from Down Under. In the end, you get to choose two guys to be your pages for the night.
So... if I read this correctly I won't need to bring my emotional support creature in GF, right?

Note taken.

Overall, a very enjoyable experience, and, so to say, the best bang for your buck.

I like the upper deck of the 744 so wouldn't splurge if I was in your situation. If I was in a 3-class 777 however, I might go for it.

When I first read this part, it brought a shudder to me. Not sure I'd want to see the avg long haul UA FA in that!!!

Thanks to everybody for feedback on this.

I checked current prices and it looks like it is $7500 (RT) for F that includes UA926. My current C (P fare) ticket is $3900. What blows me away is that one could pay for F or just buy "P" fare for $3900 and then pay an extra $500 & 20K miles (which are roughly $400 with Premier Accelerator) to upgrade to F. I realize that this is based on ON>0, but as we know, one can check that before booking such a ticket...

And since GPU won't work for P, it seems pointless to try to earn GPU or status, and instead just pay cash for P (assuming flexible schedule) and then pay a little more cash to upgrade to F (A fare).

I guess you all knew this first, though...

Thanks again
Michael

Agreed, the P fare SFO to LHR and FRA is a great deal (and generally way easier to find than R space). So paid P + miles upgrade = a great way to get into GF. GPU is still a much cheaper way to sit in C though ($1500 vs. $3900). And I'm pretty happy with that upgraded seat on the upper deck of 744!

I definitely agree that GPU with W is very very cheap for flying in C. Assuming R which isn't always easy But yes, the $1500 plus GPU is great for C. Even $1400 (non-W fare) plus $1000 copay RT & 40,000 RDM (RT) is great for C...

I have to admit though that even if I were 1K, I'd hate the uncertainty that GPU wouldn't clear. I've been reading the GPU fail thread way too often

SFO - FRA Upperdeck Business vs Global First

I currently have purchased a RT business class ticket (SFO-FRA-747) for later this month. I currently have an upperdeck seat but I am able to upgrade to first for very little $50 each way.

Is it worth to upgrade to First? Only seats available are 4A for now.

If its a buy up, which fare class would I be booked into?

$50 - wow! What was your fare class on the ticket? I've never heard of one this cheap to FRA!

There is a D-UP fare for bit over $9K and an A fare in the mid-$7K -- both in the ballpark of the D-fares and below J/C fares.

It's $50. Why wouldn't you do it?

So I went for it on the return. $50 total from a P fare.

Tried to go back and get the outgoing but buy up doesn't show up anymore. Should of done the RT but its too late now. Excited to try global first for the first time.

that is quite a bargain - definitely not an up-fare,

Is business sold out? or nearly full. maybe a cash generating op-up?

I couldn't believe it either. No, business is wide open (10+ seats available). On my account, I requested an upgrade and it gave me the option of using 20,000 miles + $550 but when I clicked on buy-up to Global First, it showed $50 for each segment.
