BusinessFirst Baggage Allowance

I am sure that I found a thread on this very topic a few months ago, but now can't locate it -- apologies for repetition if that's the case.

Flying from HKG-SFO in BusinessFirst (upgraded, confirmed). Website is just unclear enough that I am wondering about my baggage allowance.

Site says: "Customers with a confirmed seat assignment in United BusinessFirst®, United First®, United Global FirstSM or United Business® will be allowed to check up to three bags, with a maximum weight of 70 pounds."

And normally that would be crystal clear to me, i.e., I can have up to 3 bags, and each can way up to 70lbs.

Except it doesn't say "each". But other descriptions of allowances do, e.g. "Star Alliance® Gold members, ... are allowed to check up to three bags, each with a maximum weight of 70 pounds"

So my question: I am not a star alliance elite -- Can my bags weigh up to 70lbs each?

Thanks,
GD

Each bag can weigh 70 pounds.

Concur, business or first on UA = 3 bags at 70 lbs (ea.).

Are you sure?

BusinessFirst is a PMCO product. The only flight that offer such product from HKG is HKG-EWR.

HKG-SFO (862/869) is operated by 744 and they are PMUA Business.

Hm, interesting. Well, the receipt says:

Flight: UA862
Aircraft: Boeing 747-400
Fare Class: United BusinessFirst (R)
Meal: Lunch

But I take your point...um, does that change the free baggage/weight scenario somehow?

Baggage allowance is still the same.

However - you are 100% on UA Business, not BusinessFirst.

BusinessFirst is only offered by PMCO aircrafts for international market.

PMCO did not own 747 at all.

Sounds ominous -- practically speaking is it the quality of the product that is different? I guess I did not note the distinction on booking -- presumably UA is rebranding all of its long haul business sections as businessfirst?

Correct - United has actually rebranded its international business class as BusinessFirst:

I flew NRT->SFO in C on a PMUA 744 a few weeks ago and the reservation said BusinessFirst.

In theory, PMCO BusinessFirst is better than PMUA Business (as how the way they are designed for the market).

I'd say it's also true in practice. However, according to a recent post on another thread, service on PMUA Business is supposed to start matching that of PMCO BF starting in May, IIRC.
