CPUs clearing BEFORE normal windows
One of my upgrades for Monday cleared well before the 72 hr Plat CPU window. I didn't get an email from UA yet, I just happened to check seats this AM and saw that both my companion and I were upgraded around 80 hours out.
Is this out of the ordinary? |
That happened to my Uncle
a couple of times at old CO. Error in SHARES perhaps?
|
It happened to me for a flight last Tuesday. Upgrade cleared ~60 hours out.
|
I think it happened to me, with an upgrade possibly happening a few hours before the 48 hour mark, it may have happened exactly at the 48 hour mark however.
|
It happened to me as well last week. CPU cleared at about T99.
|
Here's a fun scenario which still seems to be true:

You may wish to check your credit card statement for any mysterious charge of a two-figure sum ending with 9.
|
Me too
On a mid-march flight ORD-LGA my CPU cleared T-106 hrs, half a day sooner than the listed opening of the 1K window (T-96 hrs).
|
My upgrade on a SFO A319 redeye this week cleared 5.5 days early...
I'm not complaining! :p |
If indeed this is an error, it's nice to see one FINALLY benefiting the customer... Hard to believe that all the issues are system glitches when they ALL screw the customer. If the system is really that bad, there should be a lot of screwups in the customers favor too eh?

This Has happened to me before and after 3/3/2012. Consequently I a always check daily starting a week out so I can choose different seat if I want.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B176 Safari/7534.48.3)
Sure would be nice. Still waiting on SFO-IAH and IAH-MIA upgrade |
I've noticed this happening a couple of times recently on shorter haul flights where Y appears to be close to oversold with paid F close to empty. My unvalidated hypothesis is that if they consistently have short haul routes where paid F sales are soft but last-minute Y strong, they clear ahead of the CPU timeframes to free up extra Y inventory. Like I said, speculative!

This bug is apparently still in the system. I just got upgraded at T-95 (Plat window is 72 hrs) on a wide-open A-320 from SFO-SAN. G fare, and plenty of seats still available, so I'm inclined to believe the explanation given in the other thread linked previously in this thread: it's a time zone bug.

So it seems like flights that take off in their local time zone when the CST time zone is on the next day (e.g. after 11pm Mountain, 10pm Pacific, 9pm Alaska, 8pm Hawaii) will all clear at the 6 day mark for a 1K (at least until 3/3 when this all changes).
