Getting off of codeshare limbo
Hey guys,
I have an itinerary on AC metal, but with UA codeshare flight numbers. The result is that not only I can't assign my own seats through aircanada.com, not even AC representatives can assign me any seat before checkin. Is there any way to either have UA change the flight numbers to AC ones or go around AC's system to be able to have seat assignments? Thanks. |
No, there isn't. Unless there's a schedule change or some other IROP that allows you to change the flights for free UA will need to charge you the $150 change fee (or more if it's an international flight outside of the US/Canada).
Remember, fares can be different on codeshare flights because AC may have sold all of the seats they want in the lower fare buckets on their flight but UA may have extra inventory allotted to them to sell into the lower buckets. -RM |
Same thing happened to me recently and neither AC or UA customer service could change seat assignments prior to check in. Something about system incompatiblities (which just seems ludicrous to me).
At T-24, go to the AC website and use the AC record number found on your itinerary to check in directly and you can then pick new seats. |
