Possible reasons
-- Oversold economy / lower cabin
-- Irrops of other flights creating an oversold economy situation
-- change of scheduled aircraft ( or an expected change), this is to protect against overbooking business
-- broken seat(s)
-- pilot / crew rest seat(s)
Generally, this is good news for those on the upgrade list and a possible chance of Op-ups for some.

Ever see (+X blocked) in booked column on upgrade list?

Upgrade list is 21 people; the E175 has 76 seats. My guess is they oversold Y, so some people are definitely getting bumped into F.

They swapped in the high-J 763 and the flight is now over by 17 in Y. Expect op-ups unless there are misconnects or a lot of supported upgrade requests.

They are likely protecting against another AC swap back to a version with fewer J seats. That's my guess. They will allow one more seat to sell (to 29, and leave the 30th seat for crew rest). If the swap does not occur, the entire UG list will clear. As long as Y is not oversold, the flight will go out with empty seats in J.

I'm going to take the middle ground and say that Y is close to being sold-out. I don't think this is a last-minute swap as #6666 has been regularly featured on the UA110/883 turn - https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N666UA

Economy is not oversold. Still Y available.

Didn't do a thorough investigation, but I would guess it's modestly over in Y (maybe by two?). However, with the SFO-EWR frequency and the typical difficulty of clearing supported upgrades, I wouldn't expect any bump drama or op-ups.
