United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL) was sued by the U.S. Justice Department over claims the company denied a pilot employment benefits during his military service.
So they are happy to honor the military by letting them board first, but when it comes to paying what they're required to, its another story

Wait, doesn't the military provide benefits when someone is in military service?

The bloomberg article seems misleading.
UA DID pay the benefits. There is just a disagreement on how they should have been calculated.
The DoJ website indicated UA paid based on the contractual minimum. The FO argues it should be based on what he would have been scheduled.

The complaint alleges that United Airlines violated USERRA by under compensating LaTourrette’s pension during his military service. Specifically, United based its pension contributions on a minimum monthly schedule, rather than using LaTourrette’s actual schedule during the 12 months preceding his military obligations, as required by USERRA.

This forum is for discussions about travel on United and the MileagePlus program. As this topic does not relate to that, I am closing it. If anyone would like to discuss the merits of this case, I suggest starting a thread in Omni.
