UAL stock - Does anyone think this is a good or bad investment right now?

I would guess Jeffy might be having some

digestive distress today as he sees the Dow

climbing to recent highs & UAL shares down

about 54 cents to just over 19 dollars today

from nearly 24 dollars only a few weeks ago

Maybe his scheme is not doing so well

:-:

It has everything to do with the industry being down due to high fuel prices and nothing to do with the IT migration.

With jet fuel prices touching $3.30/gal, and WN announcing that it expects to post a net loss in the first quarter because of fuel prices, it's not too surprising to see share price declines. If UA were the only airline whose stock was sinking, that would be notable.

3% on 100 shares is not enough to add a drink with your Mcdouble. :p

United stock value down 20% in last 30days

Guess wall street is not "thrilled" about the new CONTINENTAL like many of the rest of us. http://money.cnn.com/quote/quote.html?symb=UAL
Way to go Continental! high fuel costs, a completely screwed up system integration during one of the busiest times of the year, and yet you've known about how to do this for almost 2 years now?

Passing grade = F for fail!

Check the price of oil.

VWGuru Mar 14, 2012 6:11 pm

Still up about 2.9% YTD. But I think there is still more pain to be felt in the stock before anything starts to show signs of recovery.

Between 2/13/2012 and 3/13/2012 ...

United: Down 17% from $11.15 to $9.31
US Air: Down 24% from $9.18 to $6.96
Delta: Down 17% from $23.97 to $19.83
Jet Blue: Down 14% from $5.92 to $5.08
Southwest: Down 13% from $9.71 to $8.41
SkyWest: Down 13% from $13.20 to $11.43
Alaska Airlines: Down 8% from $75.75 to $70.02

Clearly things are horrible at United!

I think we are inventing stuff here. Yes, the integration is screwed up. But US Air was worse. At the end of the day, airline stocks will perform based on macro-economic factors - the price of oil, passenger loads and yields. If United has a good schedule and a good product, we will buy it, even if we are pissed about something in the near-term.
