United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 5:00am to 10:00pm. In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers), but not in the opposite direction. The shuttle bus is available at gate A28 and C70 as illustrated in the image above. The shuttle drops off passengers at the terminal B through the service entry, that requires walking up 2 flights of stairs - there is no elevator. Only the front bus doors will open for alighting at terminal B.This service is free and you will not have to go through TSA security again. Please note this shuttle is operated at the sole responsibility of United Airlines and is subject to modification at their discretion.

There's a good chance that there will be schedule changes between now and June, and United should be willing to open up award inventory to rebook you onto better connections when that happens.

one way shuttle...why?

Does anyone know why the airside shuttle will take you from A/C to B, but not vice versa? Is it to discourage UA *G from going to B for convenient lounge access (e.g. LH Senator, SAS lounge, etc) with shuttles in both directions?

INTL flights on arrival will need to go through immigration and customs, thus making the shuttle bus moot going the other way. The shuttle bus has nothing to do with lounge.

There are very few people who go to LH or SK lounges before a domestic UA flight. Even if there were regular service from B, I think they'd pick up literally a handful of people per day. (And I estimate chances are near 100% those people are flyertalkers. )

I am arriving on a domestic GoJet flight (so terminal A or C?), connecting to the TAP 5:40pm flight (terminal B?). This is on separate tickets with a 2-hour layover (used to be 4 hours, but the domestic flight changed). What do you all think? My other options are taking the morning domestic flight (10 hours layover) or fly into EWR the day before. This is in December, so weather may also play a role. I have GE/TSA-pre and flying J, HBO.

You should be fine - especially if you dont have bags to check - Id just keep an eye on the weather and adjust your plans as needed - terminal B security and check in arent too bad.

You should be fine - especially if you don’t have bags to check - I’d just keep an eye on the weather and adjust your plans as needed - terminal B security and check in aren’t too bad….
Thanks. Now that I am thinking about it I may miss the check-in cutoff for TAP (1 hour), if first flight is delayed, if I cannot do OLCI. Can I even board the bus from C or A to B, without a boarding pass? If I land at A, then I have to take the bus to C and then B? Do I have to re-clear security at B? Do they have pre-check at B?

United operates a shuttle bus between terminal A and B between the hours of 1:00pm and 11pm - you shouldnt have to reclear security and Ive never been asked for a BP when taking the shuttle. AFAIK there is no shuttle from C to B - youd have to walk or take the air train

B does have precheck - but its not always open IME.

I think you meant there's no shuttle from B to C (or A). Terminal B is a drop-off location only.

Thanks. I decided to book a DL domestic award flight that lands in terminal B 4-5 hours before my international flight, so problem solved. What is the best *A lounge in B, the LH one? I also have PP.

Is the LH Business lounge better than the SAS one, in terms of food offerings? Unfortunately, this is my * A Gold requalification flight, after a brief drop, so no access to Senator lounge.

Note Delta arrives in B1 and TP departs from B3. You would need to reclear security.

LH or SK would your options. In theory, you can access BA lounge in B2 using your PP, but it closes early in the afternoon if I recall correctly, and you would have to reclear security once more.

Edit: it sounds like I would have to re-clear security, so I may as well go landside. It will be easy to walk to B3 departures from B1 arrivals, right?

See my post above. You'd have to go to landside regardless. The three concourses in Terminal B are NOT connected post security. Delta is in B1, TAP is in B3.

Sounds good. It looks like I can use the BA lounge until 2pm, and the SAS/LH ones after 2 and 2:30pm.

I'm flying SFO-EWR-VIE on UA/OS with a 2:40 layover. How much time does the C->B bus transfer take and what frequency does it run on? If the flights are on time, will I have enough time to use restaurant in the PL in Terminal C before boarding my OS flight in Terminal B?
