MCT for EWR (2012)
https://www.newarkairport.com/at-airport/connecting-flights
United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 4:00AM to 12:00AM (midnight). In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers) from 1:00PM to 11:00PM, but not in the opposite direction (shuttle does not board at Terminal B). The shuttle bus is available at gate A28 and C70 as illustrated in the image above. The shuttle drops off passengers at the terminal B through the service entry, that requires walking up 2 flights of stairs - there is no elevator. Only the front bus doors will open for alighting at terminal B.This service is free and you will not have to go through TSA security again. Please note this shuttle is operated at the sole responsibility of United Airlines and is subject to modification at their discretion.

Is just over an hour time enough to make a stop in the Polaris Lounge? Will be arriving from houston on UA 2494 connecting to UA 64. Fortunately have 3 hours in Houston, but an hour and a quarter in Newark. Upon our return we have nearly 3.5 hours, will we get through with customs to enjoy a Polaris visit? Thanks!
On your outbound, your gate location(s) will play a part. Thankfully, the Polaris Lounge is fairly centrally located.
For your return, the normal questions apply in getting thru arrival formalities to enjoy a decently long lounge visit. Checked bags? US Citizen? Global Entry? PreCheck? Clear?
With no checked bags, Global Entry, CLEAR, and Pre Check...I have breezed thru Newark Intl Arrivals and into the C gates. Without all of these, gonna take some time.

UA just changed my flight from BNA to EWR so that I now arrive an hour later at 6:29PM. That gives me a 70 minute connection for my EWR-FRA departure at 7:40. I am in J. I said ok to the change but wondering if it would make sense to get an earlier flight into EWR. This is on a Saturday in late May.
I know 70 minutes is doable if all goes well, but, who knows if all goes well. Would UA let me change to an earlier flight into EWR? Can I do it online, or do I need to call? This was a paid reservation (not an award ticket). I’m in no rush, and would like to enjoy the Polaris lounge, although I would have about a 5 hour layover instead of a 70 minute one. What would you do?

If the website doesn't offer the change, I've never had pushback calling in to ask for the longer layover after a schedule update. If an agent says no, just say thanks and call again.
I would also prefer the 5h layover to the 70min one.

We are flying TPA-EWR-AMS with a return of ZRH-EWR-TPA.
Our outbound itinerary mentions no change of terminal although our inbound one does,
I've never used EWR for a connection. We have a 3+ hour connection outbound and a 2hr 50 minute connection inbound.
Regarding the logistics: Which terminals will we be flying in and out of? What is the best way to navigate from the different terminals. Is the connection time suitable on the return flights? We have global entry.
Thanks for the assistance.

Return (ZRH - EWR - TPA), the flight from ZRH is likely to arrive into Terminal B (Terminal C in case of overflow), and the flight to TPA will depart from Terminal C. At any rate, you would have to reclear security regardless. If Terminal B, just walk to C or take Airtrain one stop in the direction to rail road/P4 after immigration/custom/bag recheck.
Plenty of time especially with GE.

First timer - International connection at EWR
Hello! Traveling SFO-EWR-FCO and back in early April, with ~2hrs layover in each direction. I have never had a connection be my entry point in to the US (always had an overseas connection or direct flight to SFO)- I do not have clear or Global Entry (only TSA pre-check), not sure on if I'll have any checked luggage (depends on souvenirs!). Wondering if folks know if I'll be coming in and out of C terminal or if I'll have to change from B, and wondering people's experience on timing with customs. First time in Polaris seats and hoping I'll have time to enjoy the lounge in EWR! Any hope for me? Thank you!

International arrivals at EWR is in B, so you’ll clear immigration and customs there and then make your way over to C.With two hours arrival on a US passport I estimate you’ll probably have 30 minutes in the lounge, but it depends on when the FCO flight lands and what else dumps out at B at that time. With GE I’m on my way to C within 15 minutes of stepping off the airplane.

Another FT'er directed me to to this thread. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
We are flying business class EWR-LIS (5-hour layover) -BCN leaving EWR at 5:40 pm. BCN is our first destination on a 3-country trip, which was booked using ANA miles transferred to TAP. The rest of the trip booked with the ANA miles is BCN-IST (stopover) then our return is ATH-IST-BOS.
I booked an economy class UA positioning flight on a separate ticket BOS-EWR that leaves BOS at 8 am and arrives at EWR at 9:30 am.
We are NOT checking any bags.
I have several questions please -

I have several questions please -
- Is there any way we can get our EWR-LIS-BCN boarding pass before we leave BOS? Or do we have to check in at EWR?
- If we have to check in at EWR, we will need to exit security in Terminal C, go to the TAP check-in counter in Terminal B, then go back through security in Terminal B.
- BUT what time does the TAP check-in counter open? I'm reading 3 hours, 30 minutes prior to our flight so it might not open until 2 pm or 2:30 pm. We'd have to find something to do landside for 5 hours. I hear there is a PP lounge landside in Terminal B?
- Is there any way to connect our UA positioning flight itinerary to the TAP EWR-LIS-BCN flight so we can get boarding passes before we leave home or is there no way b/c of having to show a person our covid documentation? Portugal requires PCR testing regardless of vaccination status 72 hours prior to boarding.
- Would it help if I upgraded our BOS-EWR UA flight to business to match our TAP flight class?
- We are all fully vaccinated and boosted and just got our Swiss EU Covid Certificates but I think we still have to test
- Would it help if I upgraded our BOS-EWR UA flight to business to match our TAP flight class?
- Is it possible to check-in at another Terminal B check-in counter if the TAP counter isn't open yet? I read that the TAP check-in counter people are contract workers, not TAP employees. If we could check in earlier we could use a lounge.
- If we are unable to get our TAP boarding passes before we land at EWR, can we still use the UA airside shuttle to get from Terminal C to B?

1. Not likely as youll have to show health docs, etc to TAP.
1.1 Correct.
1.2 Yes, three hours before. As Ive suggested before, head into NY. Dont bother with the B lounge.
2. No chance. Its not possible.
2.1 No, same answer as above, not possible.
2.1.1 As of now, yes.
3. No, not possible.
4. I dont think its possible as you dont have a BP for that terminal.
Again, with respect, you are making this more complicated than it needs to be. You have a whole day at EWR, so little danger of things going wrong under pressure.

I think most of these questions have been asked and answered in one of your other threads, but here goes:

I think the different thing I was trying to get out of this was that someone had suggested possibly UA could attach our positioning flight to my main itinerary but it seems like that's not an option at all so I will go with things as they stand.

Thank you. I think I'm finally at peace here lol. I do get stressed wanting to be sure I'm proactively aware of what all might happen/how things will go. That helps me to manage my companions' expectations and then the trip is smooth.

Welcome to FT!

I regret not getting GE back when I got Pre-Check, but sadly it's too late now (no appts in my area until after my trip...next time!). Thanks for the info on the terminals- that helps me wrap my head around what we need to do.
Thanks again.

Get a mobile passport control (MPC) App from Apple store or Google Play. There is a specific MPC lane at EWR (not in JFK T8), which should save you time. Good luck.
