MCT for EWR (2012)
https://www.newarkairport.com/at-airport/connecting-flights
United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 4:00AM to 12:00AM (midnight). In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers) from 1:00PM to 11:00PM, but not in the opposite direction (shuttle does not board at Terminal B). The shuttle bus is available at gate A28 and C70 as illustrated in the image above. The shuttle drops off passengers at the terminal B through the service entry, that requires walking up 2 flights of stairs - there is no elevator. Only the front bus doors will open for alighting at terminal B.This service is free and you will not have to go through TSA security again. Please note this shuttle is operated at the sole responsibility of United Airlines and is subject to modification at their discretion.

Connecting next week SDQ-EWR-DCA. Assuming intl flights are arriving in B, what would be the procedure to connect to A?
TSA in B and then bus to A?

Several people have posted that airside stops at Terminal B are on demand only for passengers coming from C. AirTrain probably simplest way to get from B to A.

You can either clear TSA in Terminal C (best option if you are already there and/or have PreCheck) and take the shuttle bus to Terminal A
or
You can just take the AirTrain to Terminal A and clear security there (probably best option if you arrive in B and don't have precheck.
No option to clear TSA in Terminal B and take a shuttle bus to Terminal A...or C for that matter. It doesn't transport that way....only from C to B.
Note: Your EWR-DCA flight could also leave out of C. Check the App.

Where ever you arrive (could be B or C), you will end up Landside.

1:45 I to I connection
Hello everyone
We have found a flight from ZRH to SJO via EWR with a very good price. The connection time would be 1:45 and we would need to change the Terminal from B to C.
I know from my past experience with US that there are no Transit zones, so we would need to go through passport control, baggage claim, securiy, re-check and security again. Is 1:45 feasible?
We are Swiss Citizens, ESTA Holders, maybe there are APC kiosks to speed up the immigration process..
Thank you for you help!

Do you have any special UA or *A status? That may make mid-afternoon Terminal C security faster which is probably the longest step in the whole process. Lastly, is this a single ticket? 1:45 doesn't give you a lot of extra time but it's feasible in most circumstances.

EWR claims they have APC kiosks so that may help speed you along. For all practical purposes, an I -> I connection in the USA is the same as an I -> D connection (there are a very few airports where it's not but EWR is not one of them) so the drill is the same: immigration, baggage claim, baggage deposit, security, boarding.

EWR short turnaround
This may not be necessarily the right forum for the question, my apologies if not, I didn't see anything else that looked relevant.
I'm flying RDU - EWR - FRA next month and the turnaround in EWR is 40 minutes... it's been a very long time since I last went through EWR so I really cant recall how bad it is to get from gate to gate in Terminal C.
I'm guessing, based on info I gleaned from Flightaware that C is the UA terminal. The RDU - EWR flights deplane there (most recently the low-number gates) and then the EWR - FRA flight also departs, but most recently from high number gates.
So I guess what I'm trying to sort out is whether 40 minutes is enough time to get from the far end of say, C87 to the other far end at C138 which looks about as long a hike as it gets in that terminal. If that's doable, I'll keep these flights... otherwise I need to get them to move me to an earlier flight that goes through IAD with a longer layover.
So, is 40 minutes reasonable at EWR? (I generally prefer minimum of 90 minute turnarounds, but it is what it is these days...)

It’s doable - as long as your arriving flight is on time - and that it arrives in C and not A. Looks like some RDU flights arrive in A. That would be an impossible connection. I’d take an earlier RDU flight if possible.

You can walk from the end of the 80/90 gates (the furthest from the highest international gates) in about 15 minutes at a very casual pace. 40 minutes is definitely doable assuming that your Raleigh flight is on time and you are comfortable arriving once the connection has already started boarding.
All mainline Raleigh flights will arrive into C, there is a chance a UAX flight will arrive into A however most arrive into C as well. If you arrive into A you will almost definitely not be able to make it.

If that's doable, I'll keep these flights... otherwise I need to get them to move me to an earlier flight that goes through IAD with a longer layover.
So, is 40 minutes reasonable at EWR? (I generally prefer minimum of 90 minute turnarounds, but it is what it is these days...)

C->C is doable.
A->C is very tight. Very likely you will misconnect.

This may not be necessarily the right forum for the question, my apologies if not, I didn't see anything else that looked relevant.

Regardless of where your RDU flight arrives, this is insanely short for an international connection. Even if your flight lands on time, the FRA flight will have started boarding before you step off the plane. My view is that, if you make it, you'll be the last to board. I'm surprised UA sells this as a legal connection (can't get into my EF account at the moment.)

Either way I think it's crazy and I would get on an earlier flight in EWR, not because I enjoy spending time in C concourse, but the stress of missing the flight or arriving drenched after a cross-terminal run is just not worth it. I'm sure OP would have told us if he was in J as then the use of the Polaris lounge would be relevant.
