MCT for EWR (2012)

https://www.newarkairport.com/at-airport/connecting-flights

United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 4:00AM to 12:00AM (midnight). In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers) from 1:00PM to 11:00PM, but not in the opposite direction (shuttle does not board at Terminal B). The shuttle bus is available at gate A28 and C70 as illustrated in the image above. The shuttle drops off passengers at the terminal B through the service entry, that requires walking up 2 flights of stairs - there is no elevator. Only the front bus doors will open for alighting at terminal B.This service is free and you will not have to go through TSA security again. Please note this shuttle is operated at the sole responsibility of United Airlines and is subject to modification at their discretion.

As for the check in at C - you bet, just did this the other day. When ready, just take the bus inside security over to A.
Great, thanks so much!

From my experience at EWR... going from B to C to A just to use the C Pre-check will take far more time than simply going from B to A. I never waited at A all that long though obviously there are no guarantees no matter what you do.

There is a UA baggage drop counter in Terminal B, it is to the left after exiting the immigration and customs hall. No need to schlep bags to A or C.

Ah but is it open when the SQ flight arrives at 5.45am? The UA flights from BOM/DEL/TLV/EZE/GRU all arrive into C in the morning and IIRC when I arrived on SQ22 a few weeks ago I don't recall seeing agents at the UA counters at B (but didn't really look closely; was connecting onto UA EWR-BOS without checked bags so headed straight for the airtrain) — although of course I might be wrong and the counters may be manned for the SQ flight.

Just booked DFW-EWR and EWR-YHZ in late June but with only a 50 minute connection. I guess this is legal? Looks like both might be in C but about 30 gates apart?

My wife and I are coming back from FCO this Sunday (03/17) on UA41. At the time we booked the tickets the only available connection was on UA1447 leaving at roughly 7pm ET - giving us a long, but manageable 5 hour layover in the Polaris lounge. (We are flying long-haul J, and then domestic F) Since that time, the schedule for UA 1447 has moved out an hour, leaving us with over 6 hours. Back on October, the schedule change also pushed UA1866 to a 3:20pm departure (now 3:25pm) making that a technically available option. This group advised and I agreed that it wasn't worth the risk to try and change to the earlier EWR-DFW flight.

However,
UA41 has been running early most of this week. That is obviously no guarantee for the day in question. Can you do stand-by on just the last leg? If so, how. We have checked bags that will be tagged to DFW - although I could remove that tag after the customs screening. Is this even a realistic possibility?

thanks

tom

Arriving EWR on a Sunday on SK 903 arrives 1455. Business but with 2 kids and checked bags. Separate tickets. Can I expect to make a domestic connection by 1600? Interlining bags from ARN to destination help?

I think it would be foolish to expect to make that second flight only one hour and 5 minutes later when it's ticketed separately. Heck, it's not even a legal connection on a single ticket.

I have done a SDC (same day change) in ORD when I saw that I could catch an earlier flight home after arriving from HKG. I did have checked luggage and just went to the United counter that is just after the exit of border control to ask for the SDC. They had no problem giving me new boarding passes and retagging my luggage (the agent removed the old tag). However, I don't know if that works for standby due to the luggage if they don't know for sure if you will get into that flight. If I were you I would ask at the United counter that is just after you leave the border control. If I recall correctly the United counter is to the left after the border control exit if you arrive in Terminal C.

UA41 has been running early most of this week. That is obviously no guarantee for the day in question. Can you do stand-by on just the last leg? If so, how. We have checked bags that will be tagged to DFW - although I could remove that tag after the customs screening. Is this even a realistic possibility?
Absolutely a reasonable possibility. The two complicating factors will be (a) the bags, and (b) the fact that it's extremely unlikely the earlier EWR-DFW will have two seats remaining in F. If you arrive in plenty of time to make the connection, I would haul your bags landside at EWR (no need to remove the tag) and ask a counter agent to process an SDC onto the earlier flight. Flying actual standby with checked bags might not be feasible.

You would likely need to accept a voluntary downgrade to Y in order to make the change, but if willing, you have a reasonable chance.

Assuming you did not mistype your times, no. The MCT I/D from SK to UA is 1h25, so you cannot interline bags. With a connection 20 minutes below MCT, you have an extreme risk of a misconnect.

- Below the MCT, so no chance of interlining.
- The United bag drop deadline is T-45, so virtually no chance of clearing CBP and making it to the United checkin or transfer desk in time unless the SK flight is at least 30 minutes early, especially since it can take 30-45 minutes before bags appear on the carousel.

Help! Concourse C1 to Concourse C3 at EWR-how long awalj?

I have to get from gate C 70 in Concourse one to gate C110 in Concourse three - I should have about half an hour to do that is that enough time? I just can walk it right? Flights of been delayed all down the line so I’m just hoping we leave at the time we’re supposed to leave from Pittsburgh.

It’s a 3 minute walk. C70 is the closest gate to the terminal head so it’s a very short walk to the C2 pier. C110 is one of the last gates near the end of the C2. pier

This shouldn't take longer than 7-8 minutes at a leisurely pace. If you hustle, you can do it closer to or under 5. Either way, it won't take that long. C110 is also part of C2, not C3.
