5 April 2018 -- UA started posting an "expiration date", appears to be at least 18 months after most recent activity (some are longer for unknown reasons)
also states
Expiration had previously been in the T&Cs for some time (2 years of inactivity? but now is 18 months) and had stated an ETC would be issued if the funds did timeout. Unclear if that still applies.
The Gift Registry has been disabled since Fall 2017 (Sept?) (appears this may be related to a tax issue?)

Given the amount of money in and out of my account and the detail displayed iit's not possible for me to tell right now. I've not kept track of the individual expiry dates. However, when today's flights post I should have some more $5 credits and we'll see hw the amounts for the two dates change.

My $5 credits were applied to the 3/31/2020 balance, leaving the "expiring 4/30/2022" balance the same as it was before. My accunt history goes back quite far and it appears that when I spend from the balance it comes out of the earliest expiring balance first.

It all makes sense now. $5 credit/ticket expires 1.5 to 2 years and extends all unused credit at the same time.

Balance Overview
Total available balance: $xxx.00
Cash expiring 3/31/2020: $xx.00 (from $5 credit/ticket)
Cash expiring 4/30/2022: $xxx.00 (some of the funds came from Amex Platinum cards when one could still deposit money)
To
Cash expiring 9/30/2023: $xxx (some of the funds came from Amex Platinum cards when one could still deposit money)
Due to your recent activity, it extended your credit (from non $5 credit/ticket) for five years. That is quite generous from UA.

Looks correct except that I'm nt completely sure exactly from which activity the 3/31/2020 balance came from. I've had a lot of activity over 10+ years in that account. Based on the amounts I suspect you are correct.

I know the discussion has mostly been about expiry lately, but I was shocked the other day to see my $5 credit hit my TB account the day after my flight. Even sooner then the mileage. I’ve never really checked until a few days after, but color me impressed.
And in case this talk not involving expiry is off-topic, I’ll bring it back to say the expiry is 3/31/2019 - so that’s 18 months.

FYI - The TravelBank web page no longer lists early 2018 for its return from maintenance. Now it just says:
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details.
Technically more correct than before, but very disappointing.

I track all my stats way too closely and I can tell you that the Travel Bank $5 credit will often show up before I even land on my ORD <> west coast flights.

Thank you for contacting United.com Web Support.
The terms for the travel bank have not changed. They expire 18 months after the last activity. I apologize that your travel bank is showing two expiration dates. I have submitted an escalated error report to our programming team.
Regretfully there is no date to when the gift registry will be reinstated.

Mine is now showing a single expiry date, which is 18 months later (plus to end of month) from earliest/oldest travel bank credit that's unused.
