Absolutely revolting removal of service.

So thankful my wallet is linked to SQ as of this year instead of UA.
Of course, this turned out to be a malicious and unfounded rumor - booze is still free in Y on Asia flights.

Still, there are other reasons why one might choose SQ over UA for Asia flights in Y. With E+ and full mileage credit on all Y fares on United, and how much of a joke KrisMiles are now, I'm hard pressed to think of many though.

Where do you see reports of alcohol being free in Y on Asia flights? From what I've read - they are charging and Hemispheres seems to mention that as well, but i'd LOVE to hear otherwise!

This page on united.com seems to suggest otherwise.

See post #50 and onward in this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...omy-class.html

Seems like it's a website issue that needs to be sorted out.

Sorry - free is only being reported on real UA flights. We dont have statistically significant data on COdbaUA flights.

And I stand by my comments above - CO is bent on consolidating power ex-CO.

That page says alcoholic beverages are available for purchase on flights to and within Asia.

Are you retracting the 'rumor' claim then?

That is what the website says but it was not my experience on intra-Asia and TPAC flights in the last few days. When asked several FAs stated they wouldn't be surprised if COdbaUA decided to do it, but there had been no communication to this effect that they'd personally received.
