United Confirms Continued Use of "Rhapsody In Blue"

http://www.chicagotribune.com/busine...,4800743.story

Not sure what the significance of "officially confirming" this today is... but, in any event, it makes me happy. Ever since I can remember, United and "Rhapsody in Blue" have been married in my mind and I would be sad to see it go. It makes me think of running through the B to C tunnel with my family when I was a kid.

There's medicine for that.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Happy too. But new safety video redesigned the tune

Does it involve watching the beginning of Home Alone (T3) over and over again?

Ha! No, though that may work. What I had in mind is...C17H19ClN2S

Just kidding. I like Rhapsody in Blue, I'm just not a big fan of it as an airline theme music. Though I admit it is iconic and COdbaUA is smart to keep it around to persuade UA loyalists that United is not really Continental.

You forget the salt form (HCl), which is the way it is provided. Only after dissolution does it become the molecule you wrote down.

Didn't realize I was that old -- I well remember the "you're not just flying, you're flying the friendly skies" jingle that predated "Rhapsody in Blue" (as heard in this 1985 commercial). But I assume there's no chance of that coming back.

I'm a huge fan of Rhapsody in Blue, but a little chagrined when 20- and 30-somethings refer to it as "United's song."

Speaking of which: I love the theme song used by British Air: "The Flower Duet" from the opera, Lakme.

have the long-form of both songs in a separate iTunes play list and listen to them when I am on the road and need to get to sleep....

Yup, I kind of like what they did with it in the safety video.

And I could swear they are using an Airbus with CO seats for the video
