Now to see if I get the EQM for the UA flight, haven't posted yet...any bets?
Interesting question. You will definitely get EQM for the LH flights ex-BOS (and if they booked into full J, you should expect 150% EQM on those). I'm scratching my head a bit about what you'll get for the ORD-BOS portion, given it was a diversion... you should get something (probably the normal ORD-BOS EQM of 867). You may have to file a missing miles request or fax in the BP stub with a brief note explaining the diversion.

Can anyone advise the best email or telephone contact options for a 1K seeking compensation for an MX, IDB, downgrade as a result of an international cancellation?

The 'Appreciation' webpage only covers flights from 1 Oct 2011 and my incident (MX) occurred on 27 Sep.

Is the 1K Voice contact point still valid?

Thanks.

Being it is over 90 days, I would suggest calling 1K CS and plead your case. It may be a bit difficult due to the time lapse.

I am wondering if the problem is caused by weather then what is the result. I got stranded in an European country and the airline could only book me to a flight 4 days later, while they only gave voucher for the first two day's hotel& food. When I returned to ask for the third day the answer was "we've done all we could". Have you had similar experience before?

Thumbs up SAN-IAD 3 hr Delay -- $250

Recent SAN-IAD flight had a 3 hour mechanical delay.

Entered data on appreciation site, but nothing set up.
Two days later this 1K received a $250 e-cert.

UA975, yesterday's 5pm IAD-SFO, sat on the tarmac for 2+ hours before returning to the gate and the crew timing out. It eventually left at 9am this morning. As I'm DC-based, this was only moderately inconvenient and annoying, but I was prepared to just suck it up and chock it up to excrement happens. Amazingly, and much to my surprise, I had a proactive e-mail from UA in my in-box upon landing that apologized and offered me the choice of a $500 voucher or 22,500 RDMs.

I also got a UDU and they redeposited my regional. I'm still fairly flustered that UA even bothered to acknowledge this as an inconvenience.

Monday 1/9 had a flight connection in ORD that was scheduled out at 11:33am CST (UX). Received an EasyUpdate call at 5:30am EST telling me that the flight was already delayed for "Aircraft Servicing" and departure was pushed an hour to 12:30pm. Arrived in ORD and there was another delay of an hour w/ departure now pushed to 1:30pm. So they knew at 4:30am CST that the flight at 11:30am CST would be delayed, yet couldn't get a replacement in for 9+ hours. After going to the Fgates - Service center and receiving a "we can't do anything for you", called the 1K desk (transfered to 1K CS) and received an offer for 10k miles or $400 Travel Cert and took the TC.

1/3 UA837 SFO-NRT-TPE, NRT-TPE connection cancelled due to plane maintenance emergency landing on morning flight from TPE. Compensation: reroute on JL flight that got in 20 mins earlier than scheduled UA837 would have got in to TPE.

That's not a joke, the NRT UA agents are the worst at handling cancellations in the system. A few yrs back when I had the same situation, from the announcement of cancellation at the gate which was 7p, I got a hotel and another flight on another airlines and left NRT airport... at 3:30 am! (and other countless stories of similar situations from friends who were faced with same situation)

It was at the end of 2011, but compensation came in 2012. My flatbed seat on an international BF ticket wouldn't go completely flat. It kept getting stuck and the in flight service manager and a mechanic couldn't fix it manually. Nothing occurred in flight or upon arrival, but after writing CO-Care I received a $250 voucher. Better than nothing, but in reality the $250 voucher amounted to less than 3% of the total ticket price so not exactly a big or overly generous gesture.

Sunday 1/8 last flight IAD to JFK cancelled. Could not get a confirmed re-book until Monday afternoon. Received a hotel (Westin) and F&B voucher.

Called Customer Appreciation a few days later - and as a 1K was offered a $250 e-cert or 10,000 RDM's. Took the e-cert.

Yesterday was a bad day to be flying through ORD. My original incoming flight was cancelled. I probably would have made my connection, except that my plane was 1000 pounds overweight and sat for twenty minutes burning fuel. Ending up getting to the gate in time to see my plane still sitting there, but too late. Was rebooked on a flight two and a half hours later.

This morning I got an unsolicited email telling me I would receive 9000 award miles.

Reading through this thread, I can't help but notice that most of the compensation received comes from UA. In the 3 years that I've lived in Houston and CO has been my primary carrier, I've never received one dollar or one mile in compensation for anything. Though to be fair, I've never asked. From the PMCO board, this seems par for the course, and asking doesn't seem to help much.

This contrasts with my prior experience as a NWA flier, where any time there was a delay or a cancellation or anything was wrong, I got miles and dollars, unsolicited. They gave it out like candy! From reading this thread, this seems to be close to the UA approach.

I wonder which approach is gonna win out going forward?!

I also was delayed at ORD last night, heading to MHT. First due to weather (8pm delayed until 10:20pm). Then mechanical when the cabin lights in the arriving plane didn't work properly. They finally had to swap planes, and we didn't take off until after 1am (arriving in Manchester after 4am local. Ugh.)

Had an email from Customer Appreciation already waiting for me when I got home at 5am; offered $150, 7000 miles or 10% coupon. Grabbed the e-cert.

Reviewing this thread every week or so, it makes me think UA is dishing out tons of $$ (proportion to total flights) in compensation (2+ hour delay..., etc. really?) Need to remind myself we don't have a list of where it was NOT offered/provided.

That said, if I were heading to Vegas on a gambling trip, I might find my best odds of winning are not actually in a casino, but on a UA flight.
