UAL Q3 2011 Earnings Conference Call Thread [Discussion, Highlights, etc.]

Q3 Conf is this Thursday Oct. 27, at 10:30am (est).

Follow the link here if you would like to listen live (or listen to the recording about an hour or so after it is complete).

Here is a preview from AP: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Earnin....html?x=0&.v=1

IMh (and usually incorrect)O: I expect an operating profit, but between writing down hedges and merger costs...a loss.

I would also expect a discussion on customer day one (11/11/11).

Thanks to rob_flies_ua for the link to the financials: http://ir.united.com/phoenix.zhtml?c...399&highlight=

Customer Day One happened long ago --it just didn't take place in one day.

UCH should post both healthy operating and decent funny money profits for Q3 2011.

I am sure it will come up, if not in Q&A.

Ill prob dial in since I should have time in the morning although trading due to possibly Euro problems may arise.

I am really interested in finding out how far and low they hedged out oil futures as we saw a nice dip in the last Qtr. I think the hedge writedowns this qtr will be quite large.

If I am in the office, I will follow along and post "notable notes".

Wifi for the whole mainline domestic fleet, not just the PMCO bit. Interesting, as there are no details on the PMUA side previously announced.

That's an understatement. It was basically the entire opening statement from Smisek.

I thought it was 75 locations, not 75%.

Slowing the growth of ancillary revenues due to integration IT needs. But they're not really slowing down over the long term.

Oh, and baggage fees are a "cost recovery mechanism" rather than a fee.

Jeff really doesn't like taxes. I particularly like his comparison of industry taxes to those on cigarettes and alcohol: "air travel is not a sin."

Who can blame him, or anyone else in the travel industry? I avoid PDX (fly into EUG) for that reason, if I travel with a lot of people. The car rental rates, the airport tax, etc.
