Rebooked on Delta far in advance

I am having a flight in a couple of months on United. It is a connecting flight A to B via C. Flight A to B is not being operated any more. Instead of rebooking me on another connecting United/Continental flight A to B via ? (there are tons of options available), they rebooked me on a nonstop Delta flight from A to B. I am fine with that, its less stress. I am just wondering what kind of revenue management is that? And also, will I be able to claim miles on United for my flight which now is a Delta flight? Thx.

You can request Original Routing Credit (OCR).

And double dip by a missing miles request to Delta. Just make sure that your OCT is fully done before you try to get miles from Delta.

Hopefully it is a company policy. Otherwise, management might wonder too and stop this practice (and put passengers through more stress).
