Seems shortsighted to expect an answer from an agent when the policy is not yet in affect. Wait until April 1, that's the first day of Q2... and frankly give it until June 30... if there's no word by then, I think it would at that point be another log on the fire. As it is, it's like complaining that UA hasn't released what their 4th 787 route is.

Do any GE members remember exactly what the food question is? I'm always bringing back some kind of food with me, and always get the big A on my form.

The new question is the same, except for the omission of the word food. This means that if you are bringing baked goods, chocolate, or candy you do not have to declare it, and you will receive a clean chit from the machine.

Now that we are a few days into the 2nd quarter, has anyone heard anything? Anyone with luck getting the reimbursement?

So I have a long saga about this. I inquired late last year in November, and asked if I signed up now, would I get reimbursed. I was told I would, and to keep my receipt and submit it after January 1. I kept the e-mail, and signed up for GE.

I submitted my receipt with the e-mail in January and was told to wait until April 1, and re-submit.

I sent it in again on April 2, with my all of my correspondences. I got an e-mail back from United a few days ago that states that this program hasn't started yet, and to wait until it is officially announced, at which point there will be information on where to send my receipt.

So, has it not officially started? It is Q2 now.

It would be nice to see the details on this process but I can't find anything on the United website yet.

This is a page I hadn't seen before that is linked to from the premier benefits page. Since it says you have to be Plat or 1K for the 2012 program year, I wonder if that means I can apply for GE now and submit my reimbursement in May (when I achieve plat) to take advantage of it for a trip next month.

Global Entry compensation benefit

Additional details
The Global Entry compensation benefit applies to new applications only and has a maximum value of $100 USD every five years. Members with an existing Global Entry membership can take advantage of this benefit during their next renewal. The overall compensation benefit is open only to members who earned status for the 2012 program year, and who applied for Global Entry after January 1, 2012. The TravelBank credit process described above will end in June, when the automated process for this benefit takes effect.

I was thinking the same thing. It would not hurt to try. I should hit Plat in May too and and i just got global entry last week. I'm not too hopeful as flights flown in 2012 technically count for 2013 program year, we just get to enjoy the benefits right away.

I asked them via e-mail last November if I applied then, if I would be reimbursed, and was told I would. I have not left the country since, and probably won't in the next 5 years. I only applied because I may be able to do TSA Pre Screen. So United just cost me $100.

So you signed up for GE for just one trip? Customs doesn't take that long to get through. It probably took you longer to get signed up for GE, interviewed, and do any of the other required steps, than it would have taken you to get through customs a couple times. That is funny!!!

Anyway, it's just $100 - in the scheme of things, no big deal - it was obviously very important to you so I wouldn't second guess yourself now.

I applied because it was the only way to be eligible for TSA PreScreen which the United CSR also said would be in Denver by January 1, 2012. That also didn't happen.

Gotcha - well at least you've got it now. I wouldn't worry about it. Don't second guess yourself. When all that stuff happens, you'll be ready for it.

Thanks, I hope so, its just annoying. At least I didn't go out of my way for the interview, I just went to the airport 30 min early one day
