My travel for the 2nd half of this year is almost non-existant due to travel restrictions at work and a slow in personal travel -- so after a trip to IAD this week and DEN next week I may not be on a plane for awhile. I know I'm probably fooling myself but I'm hoping to stop into the DEN facility and that there is a no-show or cancelation when I'm there so I can get this done. Otherwise, it'll be an interview sometime next year given no nearby facility to PDX...

While it does not seem to be advertised if you request it (I am not sure how exactly) and if you have a big enough group (I think 10 people) apparently somebody from CBP will come to your place of work and do the interview and fingerprint collection there. They have come to my office twice now to enroll people and friends of mine have had CBP come to their work site and enroll people there.

As well, at least at two conferences (that I have heard about) CBP has had officers on hand to conduct interviews and collect finger prints of attendees who have been conditionally approved for the program.

There is an article in business travel new about CBP sending an officer to a work site to collect fingerprints and conduct the interview. (Business Travel News Article)

I apologize ahead of time if I violated any FT rules by posting a link to the article.

How does the reschedule work? Do you just click on the reschedule button and it offers up the first available slot? I completed my app on Sunday and received the conditional approval this morning. I'm booked for the first available appointment at SFO, which wasn't until November.

Yes. Check frequently - appointments can open up suddenly. My initial appointment was 4 months away and I ended up with an appointment 4 days after my application was accepted.

that may not work well if looking down at the keyboard when the pic is taken. The two opportunities I have had resulted in a pic of the top of my head and comment of being camera-shy by the CBP agent.

My cousin was able to snag an appointment at JFK by checking last Monday and seeing an appointment available while he was on a layover at JFK.

Printed out the required docs and he was interviewed and on his way within fifteen minutes after rescheduling his appointment.

Family member application

Does anyone know if the application for a family member will be refunded. I received my refund last year. If I apply for my wife this year, will the fee be waived.. Has anyone actually done this? Thanks.

The benefit is intended for the elite only and you may only receive the benefit once every five years.

...
This benefit applies to new applications only and has a maximum value of $100 USD every five years.
Applicants who are not approved for Global Entry membership after receiving the $100 credit may not receive an additional $100 credit toward another application until five years after the initial compensation request.
...
The personalized code is the property of United Airlines. It may not be used for any purpose other than for a new application, by the original recipient, for the Global Entry program.

That said, it does not appear that there is a way for United to determine easily whether the payment you applied (or the credit you receive through TravelBank) was based on your (the elite's) application or that of someone else.

You of course won't be able to use the credit for 5 more years, so not for your renewal (although the T&C also says new applications only).

8/7/12 pm- Received conditional approval and scheduled my interview at EWR on Aug 18th at noon.

FWIW, for NYC based customers or those connecting via EWR, Aug 18th is WIDE open.

Pleasant experience ^

Thank you UA! ^
I used GE for the first time last Tuesday, smooth sailing. Also received my GE card in the mail yesterday and it came directly from the JFK office.

It took me a grand total of three weeks from submitting my application to receiving my card. Very impressed and I would highly recommend the JFK office if you can make it work ^

About time I see our tax dollars being used effectively, which is probably the only department in the entire DHS that is well run. Now about that TSA.....

The new system is a personalized "credit card" code and if the names don't match there seems to be a way to determine to whom the credit is being applied.
On the Travel Bank appraoch, you need to provide a receipt with the elite's name. Doubt a receipt with a different name with work.
I don't see a loophole (if UA makes use of the info supplied).
