SWUs awarded for more than 150k EQMs during 2011 are not extendable.

Just got off the phone with MP CS and a nice SD made a "HUGE one time exception" for an existing itinerary..... the over-riding factor was we are a party of 5 and needed extension of my 1/12 SWU to WL for our trip in April.
I had already reserved 2 SWUs for another itinerary.
It's nice being 1K.
Whether we all clear or not is another thing.

I just got denied extending a 1/2012 SWU with an agent on the phone. She said they'd been instructed not to extend any earned in 2010.
Should I try again? Was there anything specific to say that authorized them to make the 1-time exception?

I called the US "Premier Executive" MP desk and asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me that I should call back one week prior to expiration. 
Anyway, I got his name.
I noticed that both he and the first agent spoke with latin american accents. Has this desk been outsourced? In the past I recall that it was in N or S Dakota and you typically talked to older midwestern ladies who sometimes were quite friendly. I think an outsourced desk would be more robotic and by the book.

Carryover of SW upgrades?
I have 4 unused SW's from last year in addition to the recently credited 6 for 2011. Any chance that I can convince UA to let me carry over the 4 old ones until I can use them this summer? They are due to expire 2/29/12. Thanks for the help.

Not gonna happen. SWUs earned from 2010 flying, deposited 1/1/11 (or thereabouts) expire at the end of this month. How are yours a month later?

I did not qualify by the end of 2010, but did fly the necessary 25k miles within the first quarter of 2011 as per the UA offer to expiring 1k's, so UA awarded the upgrades to me in February rather than January.

Good point - forgot my spouse did the same, hers were April 
Only exceptions so far seem to be if you have Feb travel already booked, they'll force-extend one into an existing reservation

IME they will extend one SWU into the following year, until until the end of march mabye. I've got one I won't be able to use that I hope they'll extend.

that had been recent practice but agents have been instructed not to do this year. Many experiences related up thread a few exceptions due to delayed posting the 2012 SWUs.

Meh! Looking at a TCON next month, with 6 SWUs expiring in three weeks. Since 1K got extended I thought I'd have one last UA fling. I called, no dice on getting two extended. I should have my Alaska tier match to MVP Gold by then, time to try someone new.
