You're saying that they extended a 2011 GPU expiring 1.31.13 to 12.31.13? Wow!!!

They extended two of mine to 1.31.14. As it happens, it made no difference, since I am using them in two weeks, but I thought it was a nice gesture.

Thanks

Just had my 2 expiring on 1/31/13 GPU's (had to look that up as they are still SWU to me), extending to 1/13/14. I did take 25 minutes, mostly on hold, but a very nice MP CS who got it approved with a manager.

CS "did not have the power" to do it without a manager, since I had already had them extended once (from 12/31/12 to 1/31/13). These were GPU earned in 2011 and originally posted in Oct 2011.

Of course, when she got it extended, they system removed 1 GPU. It took her some time but she got it put back (and also put "back" 1 RPU that expires on 1/31/13).

I generally have good luck with calling UA on Saturday or Sunday morning.

Thanks for posting, as really I hated the thought of losing 2 upgrades! As is the FT motto, call back.....

Thanks thanks thanks

Thanks for your help!!! Not only did I have two GPUs extended, United extended two RPUs as well. The issue appears to be when you received the GPU or RDU. If it was in 2012, then they can extend for a year. If it was in 2011, the latest they could go is 1/31/2013.

A little longer

Mine took nearly a half hour. No complaints, though. I just kept working and put the hold music on speaker. But I ended up getting the RDUs, too, which I never expected. Actually, given UAs policies in past years, the best I was hoping for was one GPU extension until April. This was a complete surprise. As Tony the Tiger said, Grrrrrreeeeeaaat!

Earned GPU's in January 2012 extension

I currently have 5 GPU's expiring in 1/31/13. Would UA extend all of these? I earned them in January 2012.

When I spoke to to the premier mileage plus customer service she said she did not have the power to extend them, but a manager did, after a long wait they were extended.

Call back get to the right department, ask your questions and then be asked to be transfered to a manager or supervisor. It did take me a couple of calls, but it was worth it in the end. Perserver......

Similar report as others .. had a couple of CSRs say that mine were deposited in 2011 and extended to 1/2012, but this was not the case as I could see the deposits in 1/2012 on united.com.

Supervisor verified deposit in 1/2012 and extended to 1/2014. ^

(Sunday evening call fail; Wednesday evening success)

Third time is a charm.

I called again the other day and after about 20 minutes, my remaining 2 GPUs were extended until 31/3/2013, which is what I requested as I plan to use them in February.

If you fail once, try again!

Smile

Appreciate hearing about everyone else's success with getting the extension. I had asked at the end of Dec and could not get it. I called last night and it took two minutes. The 1K desk put me through to the MP desk and the first agent I got took care of it, no manager needed.
