1 NOV 2011 HNL-GUM / GUM-NRT goes DOMESTIC 777

UA flight 201/200 HNL-GUM/GUM-HNL replacing CO1/2 Nov 1
Aircraft goes from CO767 with BF to a DOMESTIC 777 (ugh!)

and GUM-NRT goes to DOMESTIC 777 also with UA826/827 & UA873/874 (subject to gov't approval).

So, new torture option for HNL passengers to NRT or other Asian destinations routing HNL-GUM-NRT(->beyond)....

The HNL-GUM flight arrives in Guam at 7:05pm, so the connect to Narita is 12 hours later @ 7AM.
Returning NRT-GUM arrives GUM @1:25am, so only a 5 hour middle-of-the-night layover at GUM for the 6:35am GUM-HNL departure. Ugh!

Greater capacity is not a plus?

Well it is an option, but why would anyone fly this way when they could fly UA or many other airlines direct HNL-NRT and save many hours while they're at it?

It the same darn schedule we've been flying with the CO 764s for years!!!

You people aren't happy when they put a smaller plane in place of a bigger plane, and you aren't happy when they put a bigger plane in place of the smaller plane.....

FYI, the CO 764s will now be doing the DEN/SFO - HNL flights previously served by United metal. I'm sure this crowd will have some sort of issue with that as well.......

Why fly via GUM?

This. I'm confused. Why would you fly via GUM from HNL? NH has its flights straight to HND now as well.

only a domestic configured plane, but not domestic for UDU?

The flight should be eligible for UDU.

I agree HNL and GUM are part of the US - if you are going to put domestic aircraft then treat them as domestic for UDL and such.

There is currently no indication that this flight is eligible for UDU.

IAH-LIM is UDUable, logically this one should be too.

But I don't get the complaints when Hawaii went BF, and now the opposite change is also getting a negative reaction too.

Applying logic to airline operations? That's a new one...

It's FlyerTalk, where people live to complain.

HNL-NRT 3,819 miles
HNL-GUM-NRT 5,359 miles

Every PMUA flight worldwide that operates with a 2-cabin aircraft is also eligible for UDU. There's no good reason for this flight to be an exception to that rule.

+1. I've heard the same thing that HNL-GUM will be UDU eligible. Part of the change in aircraft is the apparent lack of Business class paying customers on the route but they need a larger aircraft b/c of demand for Y class customers. Plus PMUA already has E+ which is a nice benefit to the many elites out of GUM.

I don't think it is UDUable.

At .bomb, it actually says:

"In the continential U.S.,Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Caribbean, Central America and Mexico"

Unlike PMCO, PMUA are really specific on UDU.
