I think you could make it up in a hurry by auctioning the leftover hot meals back in economy. :D

FWIW, both UA266 (SFO-ORD) on 7/8 & UA698 (ORD-SFO) on 7/9 had meal orders taken by status with the f/a's hopscotching thru the cabin

I don't think they have the mental capacity (or technology know-how) to do this :)

Agreed, but it would be interesting to see how many takers they'd get if they simply offered for sale any leftover hot meals (probably at double or triple what a typical cold "fresh item" in Y costs). No need to auction, and it's not like they don't already run out of various fresh items, so no worry if it's only a couple available for purchase.

UACO, please retain the UA meal choice process so I don't have to sit up front in F, when I prefer to sit in back, to get a meal choice. |
Yeah, when I expressed my disstisfaction I was told by a dragon FA that CO had the best service anywhere. I could buy a snack box if I wanted. Unbelievable.
Every trip, every fliight, every delay, every mistake... They are adding up and I'm seriously beginning to look at my options... This is coming from a 1k with 21 years, 80% domestic last minute fares. |
1K. C-fare. PVG-LAX.
Only got second choice. FA was going row by row in order taking meal selections. Not sure if she was reviewing the status after meal selections or not. |

That's when you play this card, said very innocently, "Oh. Are they no longer taking meal orders by status? I'll have to email them about this flight when I land and express my disappointment in that policy change."

Nobody needs to know my status. I prefer status invisibility most of the time (although getting on the airplane before overhead space is gone is important to me).

I like row 6 on the 757. I like row 10 on the 747, and the last row on just about every aircraft. Should I never get my meal choice because I like the back of the cabin? My biggest peave would be when sitting in row 9 on PS. With half the cabin in front of me I'd likely lose out on having a choice.

While we are talking about a crappy meal at 30,000 feet...There are people that aren't going to get their choice. Shouldn't there be something more to it than the arbitrary seat you were assigned to (or chose for yourself?)

Fly any United p.s. flight and sit in the "best seats in the house", row 9. With CO's ordering policy, you're likely never going to get your preferred meal choice because you've chosen to sit towards the back of the premium cabins, even though those seats are well-known favorites with p.s. fliers. Please explain to me why the CO policy should stick and how this makes sense?!? |

Yup. Why should any pax need to make a decision between having a good seat and having a choice of meals? If a good seat is open I'll take it. Should I not get my first meal choice because there are more highly rated/ranked flyers on board I can live with that. Those full fare or GS deserve to have their choice before me.

So what about this...someone who "paid" for F using miles (not upgraded from a coach fare but outright used their miles for a F ticket). Is their meal priority based on their status or are they bumped up to "1k/paid" for their meal?
This whole "give out meals based on priority" is new to me as a CO elite. |
Z fare meal order priority
What about a Z fare customer in Business, what would be his/her priority when choosing a meal? Lets say its a 1P with a Z ticket, would that be just a two star designation or three star designation? Would a 1P on a Z fare beat 1K on a SWU upgrade?

Don't know if the FA can then see that one is a 1K and the other a 1P or not.
Then there is also the list, which has the pax seat number, name and MP (or *A) status. |
