Award Flight Changes After June
We're looking to book award travel to Europe in 2012 from the US and have realized that the mileage cost is going up 5000 miles. Our travel dates won't be available before the June 15th date when the 'mileage cost' goes up.
If we book now and then change dates after June 15th will they want the extra 5000 miles? The routing and everything would stay the same just different dates.
Anybody know how this type of situation will be handled.

I had it all mixed up, I thought it was one year from the original flight date not the ticket issue date.
We traditionally book our big annual trip 330 days out, but if the 1 yr thing is correct that gives us very little flexibility if we needed to change the dates.
Can somebody confirm the date limitations on award tickets?
Thanks

Award Mileage Chart Increases
Well this blows,
http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6867,53714,00.html
Nothing on the CO side, but yet another change I don't like :-/. Higher co-pays + higher mileage requirements.
With my upcoming move to PBI, AA is looking better and better ...
EDIT: There are some decreases here. NA->EU in J went down, but NA->EU Y went up. Haven't had a chance to comprehensively look over the chart yet though ...

The inflation for the miles' cost of the award is outrageous. In 2005 my US Air Star Alliance business award to Sri Lanka with a stop in Thailand was 90K each, 180K for two tickets.
In 2005 my US Air Star Alliance business award to Bali with a stop in Thailand was again 90K, 180K for two tickets.
