Travel on US...Better as a UA 1K or CO Plat?

Simple enough question. If one decides to book a US itinerary, are there any material advantages to doing so as a 1K vs. a Plat?

There is no difference...both are *Gold in the eyes of US.

IIRC, CO elites are eligible to earn a minimum of 500 miles on flights under 500miles. However, UA elites only earn the true miles from the flight

In my experience, US miles seem to post quicker to CO than to UA, but only by a day or two.

Also, CO counts miles flown on partner airlines towards MM status, and while we do not know how those numbers will be added up once OP and MP merge, I would credit US miles to CO, for a good chance those will ultimately count for your million miler status.

The higher fare classes get 125% RDMs on CO and 150% RDMs on UA.

I actually didn't realize this until a recent short hop on US. Not a big loss, but annoying if I ended up needing the 150+ miles for the next level!

You'll get CO MM credit for US flights credited to OP but no credit toward MM on US credited to UA.

Note, "full fare economy" on US (Y and B) accrues at 100% EQMs on CO but accrues at 150% EQMs on UA if that is an issue.

For many reasons, US GAs seem to have more flexibility in upgrades than do their UA/CO counterparts.

I've found the best method, and granted it only works about 25% of the time, is to approach the GA and ask nicely what the chances are for an upgrade today. Under the *A regulations, they have no need to do anything to us CO/UA elites but about 1 out of every 4 times I get to sit in first for no additional charge.

Just my observations.

Did this change? I don't follow US much anymore.

this was a 733 on a Thurs at 940PM; went out with maybe 45 pax in back and two empty F seats

last year as Gold I was 1/6 (made BWI-PHL; didn't make DCA-BOS, BOS-DCA, DCA-TPA, CLT-BWI; GA for RDU-CLT said "We don't upgrade CO Elites")

I just chalk it up to "YMMV" and it's all dependent on the whims of the TA/GA
