My only reservations at the moment are the family vacation, which include paid reservations on WN and an award reservation on US (), so I'm not much better off.

I am, however, apparently going to LA in a couple of weeks, so that's something.

I just got back from my BKK/Spain trip & can't wait to get on a plane again!;) I have nothing until Labor Day w/end, but that could change if the fares go down to COS/DEN, as I have a mtg to attend, but only if the fare is reasonable!

wcalvert Aug 2, 11 12:41 am

Just did the math, and if I visit my sister in London and continue onto ZRH with my mom I'll end up at 49,1XX miles for the year. Definitely additional MR territory to make *G :)

Also, Starwood Lurker, this is probably a long shot, but are you going to be at the IMEX Expo in Vegas in October? Starwood Hotels is listed as an exhibitor, but the contact person is in LA.

I have nothing important to say about miles or points today.

It's officially sold out, but send a PM to Pizzaman as he is maintaining a waitlist.

There was some p*ssing match between FT mods and MP which meant it wasn't allowed to be publicized on FT. Kind of childish.

I think the question was actually about this thread where Cigarman proposed a possible UA/CO Do, not SMD3... Sadly that one seams to to not be going anywhere. :(

paranoiatx Aug 2, 11 6:26 pm

Though speaking of SMD3, is anyone else around here going?

That's exactly what I was asking about, but I thought it had been merged with the SMD3. Too bad it hasn't gotten off the ground.

Thanks.

Doc gave me cipro. I've actually managed to keep some soup and rice in me for more than 30 minutes this evening which is better than I did with anything else all day. hopefully I'll be back to my normal, perky self soon.

I sympathize. I was on Cipro for 10 days after coming back from the jungles of Peru. Lost 10 lbs in 3 days. And as if my roiling guts weren't bad enough, I had rashes on both arms so festering the nurse wouldn't put the sphygmomanometer on me. Still, I loved Machu Picchu!

Yowsers. Mine is only a 3 day supply. And it does just as much damage to your system as the bug sometimes. Not pretty.

But at least I feel human again, unlike yesterday.

Lightning Bugs

Evening Box,

And a beautiful evening it is: we were sitting out on our deck earlier enjoying a glass of wine or two with great jazz on the outdoor speakers. Overhead were several beautiful contrails illuminated by the last rays of the setting sun....

And then as it grew dark, they appeared for the first time in a good long while: a small detachment of lightning bugs flitting about our trees with their small, white "anti-collision strobes" blinking merrily.....one even landed on the lounge chair next to me (flag stop, perhaps).

It was great to see those little guys again after quite some time.....

I remember seeing a NYC BBQ place on one of Food Network's best thing I ever ate BBQ episode. I wanted to try it when I was in NYC the other week but didn't get around to it :/

It's called Daisy May's and it's at 11th av @ 46th.

Youtube clip of the highly-probably deliciousness

Edit: According to their menu, the giant beef rib plate is $37 and it comes with two sides. Yikes! Oh NYC....

seacarl Aug 4, 11 12:44 pm

Unbelievable. The pilots didn't pay attention to a stall warning - and there is an indicator that shows angle to the ground
