Yes, especially if it included in-flight pics.

This could bring him down to half that number or less, if they're counting booking miles for using a Chase CC, bonus miles, etc.
Including "Up in the Air," which I didn't really like, i find that non-FFs who write / talk about FFs always blur the line between EQMs and RDMs, not really understanding the difference. I always find that pretty annoying...

To clear the air....I don't want to annoy you.....2009 BIS miles is just under700K this year and EQM just under 1.5M EQM.

Just to put that in perspective, at 500 mph average, that's 1400 hours in the air, or pretty much two months of the year.

And that doesn't include time getting to the airport, checking in, getting through security, waiting around, boarding, sitting around waiting for everybody else to board, taxiing to runways, etc.

I've done a month in the air over a year a couple times - two is just inconceivable to me

No, you are not the only one. It's really just unbelievable.
How about at the very end when Tom says he's only at home 40 days a year, and the guy says, "so 280 or so a year...uh..300..uh..."

Hmmm...let's see 365 - 40 = 280 or 300 or so.

That's Fox News math for ya

A warning for those looking find out more about ua1flyer, Google is currently returning a huge number of malware links for the query "tom stuker"

Be very, very careful clicking on any of the results - especially any with URLs that look something like dannyraythomas.xxx/xvx.php?t=tom%20stuker

UA should arrange photo op for Tom & Sam Elliott

Tom didn't become as successful as he is without a fair amount of patience and an ability to work with a wide range of people. There's obviously a lot more to the guy than just the fact that he flies a lot.

Wonder if he flew a lot back in the day, when they'd allow a passenger to sit in the jump seat in the cockpit? My father used to do that, and he certainly didn't have the credentials our most-famous FTer does! He used to really enjoy that.

Hmm. If UA PR is really good, maybe they'll arrange a meeting between Sam Elliott (who played the chief Pilot in "Up In The Air") and Tom, so Sam can meet the guy who the movie was really about.

My earlier post was a little cynical - forgive my Aussie scepticism.

After watching the Fox interview, I am now far more enlightened. Apart from the 2 muppets who interviewed Tom, I now hold him in high regard.

I remember doing 250 BIS one year and I nearly lost the will to live. So I have no idea how a guy can do 700 BIS and still function.

Tom, I take my hat off to you and bow to you, Yoda of the air! If ever you need an Aussie to carry your bag for you, I am your man!

Hmm.. that's about 4.5x what I put in this year. Not sure I'd want to do that... I'm pretty comfortable with how much I flew.

Congrats to you Tom, hope you don't mind the spotlight for a few more weeks.

Between the idiots at Consumerist and the terrible reporting at Fox News, I'm surprised this story ever even got out

as others have said, "yes and no". Many, if not most corp. flyers are working guys-maybe at a little higher level, and the planes are not as nice as UA F. Also, when you lose your job-then, your back flying commercial. Not everyone is Hugh Hefner flying the Bunny Jet-not even him, anymore.

Sometimes it's much worse. You pay all that and there's an MX and there's no back up, no redundancy and the cost to get home is even more than you originally expected ... it can be a nightmare.

kudos to Tom, the FT hero!

Watched the video so I could recognize Tom if should ever see on United. What a terrific ambassador for UA and appears to be a great guy with the right priorities as well. Would be an honor to fly with you.

I am very impressed by the helicopter story. The most I ever got from UA was an electric buggy ride to a gate at LHR after a late connection I did get a ride in an Escalade from AA once, but no helicopter. I must train harder
