or $5300/hour for one pax. Those prices don't include taxes, so lets say $6K/hour, AI.
Why do I need a larger jet?
Netjets makes sense when one is traveling with others. E.g. four transcons in F might cost $22K AI, for 10 hours of flying or $2.2K/hour versus $1500/hour for netjets.
Given ua1flyer flies with his fiance and son, at $2K/hour for a party of 3, NetJets might make sense, especially when factoring in the time saved with boarding and de-planing.
However, at 700K BIS per year, ua1flyer is likely flying lots of long hauls. The folks that I know who have a fractional share find that it is cheaper to fly the long hauls in commercial full fare F (about $1K/hour), and then use their fractional for intra-Asia/intra-Europe travel.

I am glad ua1flyer is getting the media coverage. It was a pleasure exchange PMs with Tom last year during the Elite Team Competition, and had him offered valuable input to the Elite Team Competition Master Thread.
I am taking the credit for him signing up to Flyertalk last August.

I say more power to fellow FTer ua1flyer. ^
It puts our own puny 140,000 BIS EQM for 2009 in perspective (albeit all "recreational") and makes me feel a little less eccentric.

I have a real hard time wrapping my head around the viability of this at all. Not just because it means more than 2K miles a DAY, but having worked nearly a decade in the auto industry at the highest levels, I don't recall any person either IN the enterprise or consulting from outside who was ever needed or VALUABLE that often in that many different places.
ops, QA, marketing, SALES even, none of this ever required anywhere near this much input on a daily basis, AND we and other majors were very clear NOT to utilize outsiders who were currently working with other participants in the INDUSTRY, let alone other manufacturers.
Even the guys who were setting up remote locations for manufacturing and assembly, weren't going back and forth or here and there anywhere NEAR this often on a weekly basis. And THIS was a decade ago, when we didn't have such global internet, communciations, video conferencing, etc. I just don't get/see it.
I honestly think some of this has to be DEQM for this YEAR or previous years (we HAVE had DEQM for at least the past three years) AND it could also mean maybe miles added?

I'm just really curious to see what sort of job requires someone to be in the air that much. And then the next question which is - how effective can that person actually be?

It was so much fun working with you on last year's Elite Competition Thread. I am also on the road a lot (more next year). Hopefully we will get a chance to catch up in person while we are traveling next year.

I just read the article mentioned in the OP, and had personally experienced a few perks mentioned in the article.
To name a few examples,
1. Gate agent waited for me at the gate when I landed, and escorted me to the lounge ( I was not a RCC member nor flying international) and rebooked me from a cancelled flight to the next best flight to fit my schedule.
2. I had gate agent/baggage handler dropped everyting to retrieve my bags from a cancelled flight to a rebooked flight at IAD recently. It was unreal, while others (including the elites) were having to wait. I was a little embarassed.
3. Dedicated agent tracking my lost bags and reimburse my out-of-pocket expenses
I am no way doing as much as Tom, but I am on the road a lot, and Global Serices has been great during irregular operations.
