This is the discounted price. Normally a first class single costs 26GBP. When I used this offer last week, I did not need to put in my AMEX # before paying for the ticket.

Do I have the numbers wrong?
Hmm. </scratches head in puzzlement/>
As I understand it, regular fare for RT Heathrow to Paddington is 24 GBP, so 33% discount would make it +/- 16 GBP? When I went to the site to purchase, it shows discounted price as 21.44 GBP for a return ticket. Did I miss something? Is it new math/magical numbers? I put amex12 in as the discount code...

[Edit] Aha - I see what's happened here. At the moment HEx is running a 25% off 'Summer Sale' for tickets bought on their website (offer runs until 4 Sept) - if you take a look at the Prices & Fares page you'll see a table showing all the normal (i.e. non-discounted) ticket prices.
That should explain the quite understandable confusion!

Your puzzlement is caused by thinking the (regular, 'Express class') return fare is £24 - it's not, it's actually £32 (or £37 if purchased onboard) - so £21.44 is correct.
