Dim Sum in London?

Hi there, don't know if this goes in Dining for London...

But I'm wondering about dim sum in London, UK. Are there any really cheap/good places to eat in and around London? What are the price ranges you usually pay for a whole in the wall type of dim sum place?

Being from Vancouver, we can get good dim sum for $2-$3 a dish, making the total meal for 2 about $10-20.

Laureate seems to be a bit of a favourite amongst the Fters and is decently priced.

You'll find that the price in London is approximately £2.50 -£3.50 a dish.

On the higher end Royal China (theres a few of them) is very good and isn't really that much more expensive.

Laureate is extremely good - but you'll need to go at a time set for dim sum. Popping in for a dim sum fix on a random evening won't yield much in the way of choice. Dim sum is a lunch time treat here call ahead to be sure and reserve a place - (the place is jam packed with Chinese families on Sundays).

Canadians will find the cost of food and most other things in London rather expensive even when we are talking moderate quality before getting to the high-end stuff

Isn't Ping Pong a dim-sum only place, morning, noon and night?

I'd have to defer to wingnut's reviews of the various dim sum places, though. I'm lucky to have a Royal China close to home - seldom been disappointed there.

Yes, its a very rapidly expanding chain, but in my view nothing special, I've also got several Royals around me, which is more then good enough!

People eat 'paella' late in the day too. It's something you have to come to terms with in London ;) .

For stylin' dim sum, Yauatcha (Berwick Street) is fun. Owned by the man who brought you Hakkasan.

I've been known to have a breakfast for dinner or last nights dinner for breakfast. :)
