Is there any lounge in Dublin that offers a shower? I'm AA PLT, oneworld sapphire...

The only shower facilities I know of at the airport are for VIP's - there's none in the business lounges

Closest place to clean off is either the Great Southern or the Clarion

Although today it is so feckin' wet that all you need is a bottle of shower gel & a rubber ducky... I got saturated at lunchtime WITH a coat & umbrella :mad:

Any expansion plans which might mean a new lounge with showers?
Won't Ryan Air try some kind of basic paid lounge if it wins Air Fungus, or maybe create its own version of 'EasyShower'? :D (don't sue me, Stavros!) :eek:

Unfortunately Dublin is pretty much only served by LCC’s (Ryanair), airlines emulating LCC’s (EI & BD etc) or full service carriers operating a much reduced level of service (AA, CO, DL) or charters.

So I seriously doubt that DUB will ever see a proper lounge with spas or showers. Or for that matter ORK or SNN either :(

I agree with you kered, and it could come down to whether the availability of a shower (at a price) is a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

With the Celtic Tiger purring along, is there enough of a biz market of people who arrive from Asia/USA and elsewhere who need a shower before heading to the office?

I would think that most discerning business travelers, by which I mean those with the type of travel budget to allow them fly in “J” most of the time, will usually be transiting through the likes of LHR, FRA or AMS having flown with BA, SQ, CX etc, so they will have used the arrivals lounges there. I would also imagine some these guys & gals would have business in London or some other European capital & wouldn’t be solely coming to Ireland.

So again LHR etc would feature heavily in their itineraries, with a hop to DUB just being an add on.

Speaking for myself, I now only use EI as a feeder to get to LHR so that I can then use a “Real” airline for my onward travel. It’s only recently that I have been luckily enough to be able to travel in “J” on my travels & as such wouldn’t even dream of using EI to fly across the Atlantic. Even if they offer direct flights to my destination, such as JFK, BOS or ORD, preferring instead to travel with BA or VS.

Additionally, in most cases, certainly with BA anyway, I can advance book (albeit with restrictions) their “J” product & come out “Thousands of Euro” cheaper than EI’s vastly inferior “Premier” cabin. Or if not traveling in “J” I can use VS’s Premium Economy or BA’s World Traveler Plus, a cabin choice not available on EI’s service out of Ireland. Or for that matter any other airline crossing the Atlantic direct out of Ireland.

It’s worth noting though that if someone is looking for a “Cheap & Cheerful” (or not so cheerful most of the time) flight to the US, then EI’s economy product is just fine.

So I suspect taking all the above into account, I doubt if we’ll ever see the types of lounges found in LHR etc, in DUB. ORK or SNN.

They do provide a shower room although their facilities/service obviously come at a premium - €200 for a return journey. Apart from the shower facilities, they take your bags, check you in, personal pre-board security check etc.

If it's just a shower that is required, I believe the Clarion are offering overnight rates from €89 - in fact there seems to be a 'rate war' between the airport hotels at the moment due to the new Bewleys and Hilton - so this would be more economical?

I have a 7 hour layover in DUB in January (by choice) after arriving from ORD. Other than the Clarion mentioned here, is there any hotel that offers day rates to shower, store bags and then head over and see the city for a bit?

Would imagine that the Radisson (formerly the Great Southern) Dublin Airport would also offer day rates, and it is just a short shuttle ride (unlike the Hilton which is a looong shuttle ride !!!) from the terminal.
