Heathrow Express Needs Some Spiffying-Up

I noticed it more and more on my last couple of journeys on the Heathrow Express from London Heathrow (LHR) to Paddington Station and return:

Things are starting to get run down. :(

What launched and continued for some time as a clean, slick system with sharp looking interiors and features...has been slipping, IMHO.

And my trips on her this last weekend were the worst. The interiors are getting worn. The seat coverings are getting bald in spots. Plastic wearing out. Lots of scratches and some etched graffiti. Several burnt out florescent tubes and some almost burnt out and flickering annoyingly. And no video programming on any of them. Just a "no content" message on a blue screen. Thursday to Monday of this past week.

Both directions. Different trains. Inspected many different cars.

I get the feeling they aren't doing well, or they aren't reinvesting in cosmetic maintenance. Some of these puppies are really starting to need serious refurbishment. For about US$50 round-trip, it should be like it was in the past, at least.

IMHO.
