Bus/Train from LHR T2

Hi,

Purchased a combo bus ticket - LHR T2 bus station->Woking and then train to Portsmouth - from the TfW site. Straight forward.

My receipt states "please note that there is not a ticket machine at the LHR T2 bus station; you'll need to collect your ticket from one of the other 1700 other locations".

Any advice for obtaining the ticket at Heathrow as LHR is my first entry into the country - no other station to go to?

TIA!

It sounds like the instructions are pointing you towards a National Rail ticket machine. I believe, although I've never tried them personally, that the Heathrow Express ticket machines are National Rail ones - so you should be able to collect any ticket there with the 8-digit collection reference.

You'll need the credit card you paid with (although the instructions may say "any card", some machines seem to be a lot more fussy about it than others).

Makes sense in that the bus and train are operated by South Western Railway and I do have an 8 digit booking number. Thanks for the credit card tip. I'll report back next week.

Thanks again!

Shouldn't be per-ticket machine, it's a flag when the retailer issues the collection code. They can set it for the purchasing card only, or any card. If it's set to Any Card, then you can even use a handful of supermarket loyalty cards to collect with...! There's a bit more info at https://travel.stackexchange.com/que...-insert-a-card

I did the "pay and collect" for a ticket from Stansted to reading last week

despite the "you need a card", all i did was type in the confirmation number and it printed my tickets

Alas the tickets did not open any barrier out, or back

Madness. You buy a ticket and you expect it to work? :D

Had similar at Waterloo the other day. Picked up my tickets from the machine, rejected at the barriers.

Just to report back...

I could not get my ticket at the Heathrow Express ticket kiosk. I walked to the Elizabeth Line T2 station and used my confirmation code to get my ticket there. But where to next? The agent at the Elizabeth Line told me to try the T2 central bus station.

I walked to the central bus station. The agent there told me that the bus did not depart from there and suggested it might depart from one of the stops 1 level below T2 arrivals.

There are a lot of bus stops there with no large signage. I went back inside and a Heathrow "May I Help You" lad verified that the stop was in fact downstairs, but only could identify two possibilities.

He was correct. The bus was on time also.

But there was absolutely nothing on my online e-mailed receipt nor on the actual ticket as to where the bus stop was located. Just something to keep in mind when buying tickets in the future - do your research in advance.
