Can I take a packed lunch past US customs in DUB?

The last time I was in the Dublin airport I didn’t like the food options once I got past American immigration. Meh and crowded!

Has anyone taken a packed meal from outside the airport through American customs and immigration in Dublin?

Welcome to FlyerTalk.

Since there can be no assurance that you would actually consume your lunch while on board, I expect that you would not be permitted to bring on board any type of food that cannot be lawfully brought into the U.S. You might have to consult the agricultural restrictions on imported food.

You also need to be aware that there are restrictions on the food you can take into Ireland (the EU) since brexit incase you're going from the UK and it involves going though Irish customs. Officially no meats, eggs, dairy, etc.

No problems with items such as crackers, granola bars, etc. Suggest you eat before you go through clearance.

We will be staying in Dublin so I am thinking about picking up to-go sandwiches from one of the high street chains! We can buy bottled drinks once we get past security.

The test is: If you were to land in the US, could you bring these into the US?
So as long as the sandwiches don't contain meat, vegetables, or dairy products, you should be fine (AKA: no you can't).

You do not go through Irish customs when using the transfer route to transfer in DUB, although it's academic as the OP isn't going from the UK.
