I think the word you're looking for is "elite", not "elitist." If the list was about "elitist" universities, you'd see USC and Bennington. But you don't.

But I see Duke in there, I guess they can be both.

Actually all international students who graduated from a UK university are eligible for a "graduate visa" for two years. My daughter is getting one.

Toronto U and McGill on there, to represent Canada nicely. Though my kids are dual citizens anyway.

Yes. The list is based on the QS top 50 universities in the world. University of California routinely has 3 campuses on those lists. And on US lists often has 4 or 5 campuses in the top tier. (Berkeley, LA, San Diego, Irvine and Santa Barbara)

When did graduating from a university make you the smartest person in the room? I would rather hang out with the skilled trades any day of the week.

Do they offer extended VISAs to plumbers, electricians, diesel mechanics etc.

If you are genuinely curious, yes, they do.

Nice! That's actually a pretty cool perk. I got my Masters from Manchester, but it was done online.

Wow, this would have actually been quite useful to me two years ago. Thanks Theresa!

Keep in mind that you need 5 years to obtain ILR, and it's not easy to land a job here in the UK.

This is pathetic. If we want to attract top talent from around the world, make it a permanent residency visa. I cant imagine more than a few thousand a year would take it up.

...and I don't think that they expect more than a few thousands anyway. AIUI, this is primarily at recent graduates, so relatively young and rather mobile crowd, to give them some breathing space at an early stage rather than a somewhat older crowd for whom stability would be a more important consideration, with the idea that, once the two years have passed, they will have residency on another basis. I don't think that this is intended as a major route to attract tons of talent to the UK.

Does it not become ILR if you stick with the programme? Seems like an excellent idea
