any uk based members recommend a provider for a test ? i see boots offer them only at major stores none of which im near , tui offer a mail order one thats unclear on when the timings are , needs to be within 72hrs of arrival so do they put down the time they tested or the time they receive it?

Negative PCR test arriving into Spain from 23 Nov 20.
I can’t advise on the test. I arrived before they announced this.
But if it’s helpful to all, as an added important note to this, the Spanish government announced that as of the 23rd Nov 2020, anyone(?) travelling into Spain from any of the restricted list of countries will need to provide proof of a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to arrival.
Mods: is it worth altering the thread title?

Following with interest. I'm also travelling to Spain in December.
The cheapest I've found so far with a 48hr rather than 72hr turnaround is Nomad travel using a discount code - comes to £166 (plus courier if you don't get tested in-store).

Walk-in test centre in Cornwall UK
Hello!
Is anyone aware of a walk-in clinic for a PCR test in Cornwall? I can go to Boots in Exeter or a couple of others in that city but it’s a couple of hours away which is a bit of a pain.

48 hour test from Medicspot.
My wife has just got her test done this afternoon through a company called medicspot. They charge £150 (maybe plus another £30 to have your passport number on the form) and you can pre-order the kit on their website for collection (and drop-off) at one of their "hub" chemists.
Online said kit was sold out in Glasgow, so she went to the Edinburgh one and collected kit from chemist, sat in car, did the swab and then filled out some forms and handed it back into the chemist just before the 2pm cut-off. Result is due by 11pm tomorrow, just in time for a 6am Ryanair flight!
If you go down this route, ideally take a laptop with you. First, take a note of the order number - it is a hash followed by four digits and is on the original order confirmation.
Then you go to their website and fill in a form. This is separate from the paperwork with the test swab. Hence suggesting you take a laptop with you! Or phone your spouse! When it asks for the order number you don't put in the hash!
On the online form you also fill in the time you took the swab, this is the time from which the 72 hours starts ticking. That's why wife sat in the car outside the chemist at 1:30 to do the test so as she'd meet the 2pm cut-off.
Hopefully, the result will arrive "as guaranteed" before 11pm tomorrow!
If you decide to use them, this code gives me a tenner: http://medicspot.refr.cc/martab

Please all be careful about how you take your tests. I recently went to Barbados and a passenger was refused to board the flight as the test was not actually performed at the test centre (i.e. she had done a self test and posted it to the medical centre).. So please read carefully the entry requirements prescribed by the Country you are visiting.

I used Midland Health in Birmingham. They also have an office in Leicester where their lab is. It's expensive at £295, but if done by 12.30pm you get the result by midnight or on Saturday 9-10am . I got my negative result at 6pm same day. Then I flew two days later to Germany going by road to Denmark. Test results not checked at either border...

good luck finding a spot at the Gatwick drive through before Xmas..fully booked when I tried yesterday for the whole of Dec, and you have to complete long forms for each of your party before they show availability - very poor website but very cheap.

I had same problem with that this evening. A waste of a lot of time. The web site is chronically slow.

Boots are offering the PCR swab test at more of their stores. Appointments are bookable from 29 December onwards.
When I booked last week I had the choice of 2 local(ish) stores. Today I'm being offered 4.

Gatwick ExpressTest have made some more tests available for Gatwick for this month. I managed to book some tests for my family on Thursday next week. If you need them, don't hang around.
The same company is now offering testing at Heathrow. Cost is £99 or £80 if you have a flight from Heathrow. The ExpressTest drive-through is located on the Northern Perimeter Road opposite the exit to Business Parking (Terminals 2 and 3).
Edit (12/12):Just to add to the fun, Heathrow test centre has disappeared from their web site today!
