Connection time Inverness
I'll be arriving at INV on a Friday at 11:35am (BA from LHR). I am looking at a separate ticket for a flight departing at 13:20 to Amsterdam. I will need to clear immigration, get my bag, and check in again. Assuming the 11:35 flight arrives reasonably on time is this sufficient to make the 13:20 flight? I am originating in the US and must check a bag otherwise I would get off at LHR and just skip the INV flight. Thanks.

You will clear Immigration at LHR. If your flight from LHR to INV is on time, you will have plenty of time to meet the minimum bag drop time -INV is a small airport. If it’s late, then it all depends....

Didn't know I would clear at LHR glad I asked. Is the UK like the US whereby you must also take your checked bag through customs at the first point of entry or is it checked through?

If it is in one ticket it will be checked through.
BA not check through on separate tickets even onto another BA flight.
INV is a small but efficient airport.

Slickw, I did IAH-LHR-EDI back in April. When you are at LHR, be sure to follow FLIGHT CONNECTIONS. I was doing this and one of the Purple Coat workers saw my US Passport and motioned me to go to the Border Force line. I said I had a connection and pointed down the hall towards "Flight Connections". The response was I would have to collect my luggage an recheck being on a US Passport. I knew this was wrong but she was un-relenting. Needless to say I alerted a border force worker walking past the line after queuing for an hour. I told her what happened and she couldn't believe they did that and she escorted me on to Flight Connections. There is passport control there just for people who are on connecting flights. You will also have to go thru security again but these lines were maybe 2 minutes long. Needless to say I spent 4 extra hours at LHR, BA bought me lunch, and I still made my 3:30 PM tee time at LadyBank.

Lots more information for connecting at T5 in the guide on the BAEC board A Guide to Connecting at LHR T5

I am not too optimistic of your attempt unfortunately. I think MCT is 1 hour at INV so I guess this is two separate tickets. If you are pretty much first off and on time you should just do it. If you are delayed at all I think it won’t work.
EDIT: apologies I misread and thought you were doing a INT->DOM connection. I have amended to INT->INT. however the advice in the post is the same, so you need to do immigration, go landside, and go through security to get airside.

There is a lot of random information in these posts...to get back to the original question, you don’t have a connection at INV, you just have another flight. If you don’t present yourself on time for your AMS departure on time at INV, you’ll be buying a new ticket. It is beyond me why you would fly US-LHR-INV and then separately to AMS, but I suppose this is FT and there are miles to be earned.

30 Minutes is very, very tight. All you need is to not be first off the flight or the immigration officers not to be waiting for the flight or a queue at security and assuming you need to be at the gate 20 minutes before departure you'd have 10 minutes for the formalities ...

Just because it hasn't occurred to you there may be reasons other than "miles to be earned." OP, I did the same thing a few months back with no checked bags and despite the flight departing LHR about 45 minutes late I had plenty of time.

GS1000 just to note I don't think there are more than 2/3 immigration officers on duty at one time (it is a small airport) so if you are slow getting off or towards the back you will be in a queue which does take 5-10 minutes.
I am fairly relaxed and can run risks sometimes with positioning, but I really wouldn't recommend trying your 30 minute schedules transfer. I suspect you may have to take the overnight option unless there is some earlier inbound flight you can take.
